While I like this initiative and would love to see them in League One, you’re not an owner if it’s an annual payment so it seems a bit disingenuous to say that, it’s basically a donation.

Would like to see an Edinburgh team in the pro system. There needs to be at least 10 junior  clubs in and around the Edinburgh area before that happens though otherwise they've got no foundations underneath

It costs more for membership of Hornets supporters organisation than he coughed up for the entire club.

I agree but how many other than Newcastle are actually doing anything other than paying for players from the heartlands to play for them without adding any community clubs to their area?

If it's not done right then all that happens is Scottish RL lose a community club in Edinburgh and all their money gets spent on players from northern England

The point of top down is that once they’re playing professionally it would be easier to set up community clubs. And anyway, is it the responsibility of professional clubs to set up community clubs? How many heartlands clubs are doing that?

In that case you should have bought Hornets yourself and applied your Rugby League knowledge and business skills to saving them !

Then what is the benefit of them becoming a professional club? At least if they remain amateur they focus on developing Scottish players and the community.

As soon as the enter League 1 they would have to replace all their Scottish players with ex pat northerners if they want to be competitive with any money being spent in wages

The benefit is that people in Edinburgh would get to watch professional rugby league, and potentially more people would want to play.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment the vast majority of RL towns would have no where near 10.

I wouldn't be investing in any rugby league club right now until I knew what the structure for the decade ahead looked like.
