Odsal sports city - part 2

There does seem to be a theory that Wakefield supporters don't think Belle Vue is as bad as everyone else knows it is.

Away fans only have to come once a year if they're lucky - we're in it every other sodding week.

We get it!

There’s no yeah but about it. Wakey have been playing in an embarassing shed of a ‘stadium’ for decades and now something is finally being done about a quarter of it they think they can slag off other clubs for having rubbish grounds.

Who's slagging other clubs off???

The very clear point I've made is that Odsal isn't being brought up to date with £20m.

It would be a good start, but apologies if you weren’t slagging it off, various WT fans have been.

£20 million isn't scratching the surface when it comes to redeveloping Odsal, so surely that has to be discounted straight away?

It might just get them a basic 10k Capacity ground with 1 main seated stand and some terracing if they are really lucky and ingenious, and that is being very kind.

Anything more than that would require huge amounts more funding, double or treble, easily. The only way they might get that is through some tie up with Bradford City to sell Valley Parade and fund the joint stadium together. I think that would be a disaster for the Bulls.

That is verging on Soviet level optimistic propaganda.

£20 m, its full and yeah its big.

Who are they getting to build that for £20 million???

For that price, akin to the ancient Egyptians who built the Pyramids, Odsal will become a Yorkist religious icon in which literally millions will work for free.

Assured their contributions will ensure them a place in heaven, a membership pass and the ascension to paradise for Pharaoh Nig.

So no 4g pitch as was previously reported. Glad to hear that.

Yes.

I prefer the idea of staying with a grass hybrid.

At the recent fan's event, the club said they would get 30-40 hours per week out of the pitch, allowing them to train on it, play on it and hire it out to other sports/community groups.

It will generate an income which a solely grass pitch can't do.

Yes, but look at the pitch markings!!

It's still short between the 30 and 40m 🤣.

£20m and still not full length!

*This is a tongue in cheek post before you bite.

That's really great news. Moving to 4G for the stadium was a terrible, regressive idea.

The clown Council issues a grand statement that a 20million quid grant will help Odsal become the National stadium for Rugby league. It actually owns Odsal and has seen the pitch reduced to a size unfit to play the game at anything above kids level ... with concrete road barriers alongside the touchlines.

The Council also bans the opening of takeaway shops within 200 metres of a school ... claiming serious concerns about childhood obesity. At the same time, it's subsidising the building of schools without playing fields.

Welcome to Bradford. City of Two Cultures. If you haven't done so already, catch Bradford on Duty on BBC i-Player. For additional fun, have an evening drive around the roads inside the ring road and play real-life Wacky Races.
