Which coaches?  Hes hardly had top clubs clambering for his signature, even when a free agent.  It's only the commentators who blow him up like some kind of world beater.

Oh dear Steve Mac demoted to commentators

I said they were ensured.

Can't say for certain he would have scored. Not even sure it should have been a penalty, hardly touched him and certainly not ten minutes in the bin.

I've only seen it live and on the small telly, but interfering with the player who is going for a try who drops it by inches is enough surely for that question to be asked?

I agree, it wasn't much different than what happens with every kick like that.

He was far from certain of scoring.

He got there first with an open line. We put too much onus on the word certain, just like the disallowed Catalans try in the Grand Final.

Why no penalty try?

The interference was before the act of scoring, he was free to catch the ball and blew it.

No it has to be foul play in the ACT of scoring, he wasn't he still managed to gather the ball, it was his own fault he didn't score

It was nothing like that. It was never a penalty try Dave, I'm staggered you think so.

Why no penalty try?

There was a solid argument for a penalty try there.  Yes, Ratchford got to the ball and then lost it but the interference would have effected his approach to the ball and so his ability to collect it cleanly.

There wasn't a lot in the hold back but if it was a penalty and a sin bin then a penalty try was a very clear option.
