Swinton Lions and Belfast Eagles

Recommended Posts

The partnership between the 2 clubs has been further strengthened by a coaching development weekend in Belfast arranged by Damian Ridpath, the Lions Director of Development.  This link from Swinton's website is a heartening read for anyone interested in the growth of the community game.

All pro clubs should be made to do this in development areas - yes, I realise some do.

I know there will be the "we cant afford it" and "that's a RFL job" etc arguments, but if Swinton (no disrespect) can afford it then any SL or Champ club can. Having a pro club pitch up generates vastly more interest and energy locally than an annonymous RFL official, regardless of their skills.

Do you know, because I've lost touch, is BARLA moribund?

What about the local leagues managing committees?

Can't they put development on the agenda?

Appoint an honorary development officer?

Who knows, even apply for a Lottery grant to buy him some balls and a whistle?

Why is our organisation (from top to bottom) so inert, helpless and hopeless in this area?
