Should daytime rugby league this weekend be postponed given that temperatures are expected to be +30 degrees; 36 degrees in London?

This for peoples' welfare, both on and off the field, including the travel considerations.   Water (drinking!) breaks at the very least, surely?

Of course, other sports will make their decisions accordingly.

The current situation combined with anticipated drier summers and milder winters screams out for a reversion to winter RL to be considered. I can see a host of advantages to switching back with very few downsides.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

As a serious response, the number of clubs who would lose access to their grounds shared with football and/or union would be a reason to give pause.

With regards the current situation, nobody should really be playing rugby in 30C+ heat and matches should be moved forward/back a few hours to ensure they are played at cooler times on such days and/or the number of scheduled stops for water/rest have to be increased.

Can we also stop playing in Perpignan, Toulouse, PNG, Sydney and Queensland.  Way too hot.

Better cancel all the football this weekend as while we are at it.

F1 in Bahrain not a chance.

NFL in Florida, get it cancelled!

Baseball in California, call it off!

Football is likely to have extra water breaks.

Bahrain GP starts in the evening.

NFL has machines blowing cold air onto the players.

It’s cooler in California than the temperatures here and most games start in the evening anyway - for a sport that has far less movement than RL.

And RL in the places in your list has moved matches to avoid the highest temperatures.

Otherwise …

Steady on. It's one month in one summer. Next August is as likely to be torrential downpours and flash flooding as 36 degree heat. And we can always kickoff later, like football in Spain and Italy does.

Hot weather is NOT the reason to switch back, even if there were other reasons to do so.

My point being Sport is played all round the world all year round in temperatures hotter that 30 degrees.  They all seem to manage fine. We have a couple of days of warm weather, (some people call it summer) and people are running round like its the end of the world.  Its a bit of sunshine get on with it.

Your point is wrong because, and this is the important bit, people in places that routinely warmer don't act like they're living in England and the temperature is 17C.

Exactly. A couple of days where a couple of minor adjustments are required.

Hardly worth the hysterical over reaction some people have.

Then knowing our luck as soon as we switched back to winter it would be the coldest and snowiest winter in 60 years or something like that

There would have to be different ground share arrangements for the likes of Wigan, Hull FC and Huddersfield etc

A bit rash that mate, this summer isn’t even as dry as 1976.

I wonder if the Belle Vue redevelopment will include massive fans to blow cold air onto the players.

It does seem strange that Wakefield's game kicks off at the hottest part of the day, 3pm Sunday. Forecast at 30°.

Maybe the players are happy to play?

Most grounds have floodlights so I don’t know why games can’t kick off at 3am rather than 3pm . Good for player safety and TV games will have virtually no competition from other sports so audiences will be bigger

Dont think it would suit us to be honest, weve got quite a few bulbs out and there is no money left in the pot to replace them after spending a few quid fixing the air con.

And the winters?

The original reason for the switch is that was what Sky wanted - take that away and a reversion to winter still has loads of advantages, hence it won't even be considered.

Winter is still winter with all its disadvantages and underlying unappealing weather.

And milder means wetter - the UK climate is trending towards more rainy winters which certainly isn't an attractive proposition.
