Corentin Le Cam has switched to rugby union with Céret.

What a waste. A quality player.

In other news as rumoured, Fax have signed Jake Maizen. Happy with that signing from what I have seen of him and in a position we were light in. Certainly looking like an improvement on last years team.

I think that’s a good signing, he went well in the World Cup

He’d be a quality player if he could defend. There’s a reason the Dragons let him go

Nonsense. Marty sadler started a thread on the news forum only last week that les Catalans are looking to grow the number of French guys in their squad, and a week later they have one of their very few French guys running about in 5th tier Rugby union.

They didn't "let him go" he was at the world cup and decided the offer and potential pathway from union was far better than what rugby League could offer.

Not a recent player but Eric Anselme has joined TO as the forwards coach. A lot of experience, recently coaching the French U19 team.

Sounds like a good appointment.

I have never heard of a "forwards coach" in League though. Sounds like a really strange way to split things. What do the forwards do as a unit in League?

Every team I have ever been at splits it between attack and defence.

Your second rower is working much more with his half and his centre than he is with the Middles for example.

Do any other clubs have a "forwards coach"?

Just because it doesn’t fit your narrative doesn’t make it nonsense. Catalans released him because he hadn’t progressed sufficiently by the age of 23 and they have better prospects coming through. If he was good enough, he would’ve found another top level club but instead he’s languishing in the 5th tier of union

That's a good example of fitting a story into YOUR narrative.

Let's see where he ends up, and how much money he is making in a couple of years. The guy is talented, and obviously  a decent athlete. He has been signed by USAP and is obviously someone that could easily have had a career in League - he is literally just back from a world cup, and it is not like France have loads of international quality players coming through to backfill the places left by guys defecting to union.

It would be FAR better for the game in France if he (and all other young international players) stayed in the sport.

I certainly agree with your last comment, but he was told he was being released by Catalans several months ago, before the World Cup and presumably before IMG made their comments about wanting the French teams to have more French players. From his own interview it doesn't sound like any other SL teams came in for him - he mentions one Championship team and some Elite 1 outfits.

Whether he adapts to RU or not we'll have to see, but you can understand why someone who's 6'9" might feel that sport is more suitable for him, partly because of his obvious potential in the line-outs, but also because like some other really tall RL players seem to do, he can clearly struggle with his defence.

I apologise, I re read it and it does reference attaque rather than forwards, I paraphrase incorrectly. Christophe continues as défense coach

It’s the reality of the situation, whether you like it or not

I’m hoping Leigh pull some signings out of the bag as I believe we are a good few players short. Ferguson was genuine strike.

Ferguson has re-signed but spent his time away bulking up and they're going to play him in the forwards this season.
