Wakefield Ram Posted August 21, 2022 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Well it had been on the cards but Whitehaven's win at Bradford confirms it. At least LF can plan next season now. Hopefully we can hang on to a decent number of players and I'm sure we will be a force in League One. Losing the 4 home games to Barrow, Newcastle, Whitehaven and London were the key to our demise. I said at the time those results would decide our fate,discipline played a big part in those defeats. Hopefully now we know where we will be next season we can try and tie some of our players down. No point dwelling on what’s gone wrong the focus should be solely on next year and who stays and who goes. I know a lot of the younger guys are keen to stay and continue the good work they’ve done since Liam and Casper came in. Your problem now, as several of your lads have pointed out, is keeping a core of players who are good enough to get you back. Our Invincibles undefeated season was in the equivalent of League One. We will still be in a better position than most other L1 sides. It won't be easy, some will stay, some will go, but that's how it always is. And if they go to other Championship sides will they get regular rugby? In between, we just need Town to show their arch rivals that they want to get one over on them before relegation and no Cumbrian derbys next year. We, on the other hand, only need to show Batley how we have improved (and they are currently doing the opposite for some unfathomable reason), grab the victory at Barrow and go for our second double of the season in the final encounter at Sheffield. Mind you those victories would have to be by sizeable margins and Whitehaven to take a walloping in two of the defeats!!! Talk about optimism, on a grand scale too. 2 Legs, Dews, Legs.
