Why did League Express print this?

Recommended Posts

They have given us a foolish old man to point and laugh at, in these otherwise depressing times.

Now, which TRL member do we reckon it is? Or is it Colin* from Portsmouth?

I can't see a problem with the letter because it is a comparative matter of ability.

I follow horse racing where a lot of the women jockeys are better than the men. So for example calling Rachel Blackmore a hero or heroine is justified as she has regularly beaten men.

Same for Darts, Fallon Sherrock completes with and beats men so she can be compared against them.

And that opinion is allowed to be rightly ridiculed for the nonsense that it is.

Its ironic that you bemoan 'cancel culture', when that is literally what that dribble is advocating towards women in the game.

LE have surely just printed it got get a few cheap clicks, and it seems to have worked.

Firstly, an utterly outdated and ridiculous letter but why would you put that to print?

Absolutely bizarre, wasn't there a anti-vax letter printed last year also?

I'm a hypocrite though, I've been getting nonsense printed in the paper for years under my pen name G. Schofield.

I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.

Just because it differs to your view doesnt mean it shouldn't be published.

I hope cancel culture hasnt spread to these forums now

When it’s clearly bigoted, unwelcome in this age and offensive, it’s not something that should be published.

Demeaning the achievements of others based upon their sex is pretty disgraceful and has nothing to do with “cancel culture”.

The writer doesn't follow women's rugby league. He has no idea who the female player is. Do you? Do you know the level of ability of the player?

Do you only judge hero's by their ability? Not their guts, or attitude, leadership, courage, conviction, determination, perseverance? Based on your post I can confidently say that you are not a hero.

Maybe it is the 'Rigsby' defence.

People say today that Rising Damp was racist. It wasn't, what it actually was was laughing at racists.

Maybe this letter is published to highlight its ridiculous attitude... and the title to the piece being 'HEROIC WOMEN' certainly gives that impression.

We should totally ban wrong think. Cancel League Express and have some kind of protest. Maybe glue ourselves to the steps of Brighouse town hall.

Its a letter with some viewpoints you and I wouldn’t endorse ffs. It’s not the second coming of Mein Kampf

It's quite right that the letter was published. It offers an alternative view.

For example... what percentage of letters received are actually published? Maybe this filled the pages on a quiet week!

But maybe some of you are demanding the 'Cancel Culture' to infect RLE. Anything you don't agree with shouldn't be aired/published.

To you bigoted and narrow-minded thinkers, why not write a simple riposte... after all, you have an open goal against an idiot.

But questioning why something you disagree with was published is extremist. And typically Socialist!

I don't know the player but I can confidently say she hasnt competed and beaten men, like such as Hollie Doyle and Rachael Blackmore.

I actually don't follow women's rugby league and neither do most of my female friends.

I sometimes find the constant cheerleading of it by certain posters very patronising and Political. Especially when they hardly had a positive word to say about women on the Political forum.

I suspect that I may be in this list.

Let me say for the record that I watch and discuss Women's Rugby League because I enjoy it.

Is having to 'compete and beat' people who you do not have to compete and beat a requisite of being a hero? I've not followed the series of interviews either, I hope that no English player since 1972 has been interviewed based on your criteria.

You don't follow it yet have a problem with it being promoted by those who do? I hope you have never suggested to any none rugby league following friend to watch a match. That would be so patronising and political.

Why do you compare women rugby players to men? Do you do the same for tennis, golf, athletics etc?
