Did anyone join this when it was launched a couple of years ago? 

Is exclusive contebt being created? Are there any events goibg on around the world cup? 

It feels like a home World Cup is the perfect time to push this, but I haven't seen it mentioned all year, is it still a thing?

Looks like it’s still an option on the website. Hardly a tantalising offer though, welcome pack of pin badge and beanie hat which takes up to 28 days to be delivered

I joined it.. though it had merit.. badly executed though I'm not really sure (bar an OK hat and oversized pin badge) what I've got out of it.. early bird tickets are no real bonus in this sport etc.

This is exactly the kind of thing I refer to when I complain that we don't get the basics right. We go to the effort of launching something but do it so badly it just dies off. 

Doing all of these modest things well can make a difference. This is fan engagement, and we are terrible at it. Come on IMG.

It really doesnt need much, to be honest not having enough internationals probably doesnt help (where have we said that before!) with an england supporters club. One thing that was stark was that they talked about consulting with fans for the shirt, I wasnt, and not that a necessarily expect to be in normal circumstances (random draw of people etc) i would have though the "supporters association" would have been polled!

Well I emailed some email addresses on the ticketing website to see if my membership was worth anything this year.

The reply confirmed that "The England Supporters Club is no longer running" and "as such there are no more offers for members unfortunately".

Disappointed, but not surprised, about both these outcomes.

I'm not surprised. As usual we just get the basics wrong almost every time.

The whole concept just screamed of the RFL copying an idea from other sports, thinking it would be a cash cow, without doing a single thing to make people want to join.

Out of interest, do the Australians have an equivalent for the Kangaroos?

If so, how do they do things in terms of what it offers members?

With a 3 test series coming up against Tonga the RFL really should have been seeing this as an opportunity for fan engagement and to drive sales. Instead because its a bit of work and probably didn't get many sign ups (largely because the RFL weren't really offering anything and we all knew what would happen) they just shelve it. Even if it doesn't make money and just wets its head it should have been seen as priceless in terms of attracting fans and a new audience and selling the England brand.

I doubt it. They never play.

Look up Blatchys Blues, the NSW SOO fan club. It started out as a bunch of mates that all dressed the same for a mates birthday at a SOO and he ended up selling it to the NSWRL for around $500,000.

This is true of *so many* things across the board in rugby league.

There's a good idea there. But no action. No detail. No consistency. No going back to it to develop it. And the thing that seems to happen all the time: a goldish like memory about what has been done and could be built from.
