What a last two weeks of a tournament……competitive teams playing top class rugby in front of excited fans….brilliant.

My hope is that we can see the same players playing for the same teams in three years time, If we want to build on this we need to be able to market the star players and the teams they will be playing for.  Non of this waiting until Australia decide who to pick.

My fear is some of the stars in this tournament will be playing for different teams next time round…that is nonsense.  Can you imagine a football world cup where you dont know which team Kane, Ronaldo or Benzema will be playing for.

I think football players have moved teams before haven't they?

Every comparison with football is delusional, as football is the most played sport of the world.

In order to have more competitive teams, rl lets players switch nation if they're eligible.

The right challenge for non tier 1 nations is convincing players to stay with them, as it happened with Tonga and Samoa.

Changing the rules and making them stricter would make the World Cup less interesting.

Current FIFA rules on international transfers:

You have to been under 21 when you played, played three games or fewer at senior level, these can now be competitive games but not part of the final stages of a World or continental tournament.

The days of di Stefano playing for three nations on a whim are long gone.

Football can afford those rules, we can't.

I was putting those up in response to a belief that football has country swapping. It does but it hasn't been particularly easy for a long, long time.

Going back to the original topic, Greece are playing Serbia on May 13th. It’s great to see the game being played in Greece and with all domestic players, a proper international fixture.

Great stuff. It makes great sense Serbia, Greece and Turkey playing each other as often as possible and growing together.

Czech Republic have a decent domestic set up and international team too, plenty going on in Eastern and Southern Europe.

The Greek women beat their Turkish counterparts 8-4 in Istanbul in September.

It was a European group B game. A double header with the men's Turkey v Bulgaria game.
