I think it just gets swamped by the coverage of the neighbours' NFL.

I've been watching quite a bit of this year's CFL on YouTube and enjoying it. At first sight, it looks the same, but it isn't. There is a good YT video on the differences, but the key one, IMO, is the 3 downs to make 10 yards. If you don't make 10 on your first 2, basically, you punt. This makes for more frequent changes of possession. Also, the in-goals are huge, which, IMO, makes it a bit easier to throw for a touchdown. There are other subtle differences, but it is an entertaining watch.

Just saw this at the bottom of the sports pile and wonder why one of the longest running cups doe's not get more interest ?

It's a big sport in a small country. If the NRL didn't compete with Aussie Rules, I dare say it would get next to no mention on here either.

Pretty much.

CFL is live on BT but the timings don’t really work for most games they show and it is basically invisible outside Canada.

Obviously, I’m a Saskatchewan fan.

It also doesn't appear to be that big in Canada, their showpiece event was far from full?

I comment that on YouTube and somebody said it was sold out 1000 fans didn't turn up as their team didn't get to the final.

Apparently its not that popular in Toronto and Vancouver as more people like NFL.

Apparently the problems are about reselling tickets online and having a city bid for the final.

They did announce a sellout but there were clearly plenty of tickets available on the day.

Sad to think it was only a 33000 stadium and with it being Canadians  game and it's long history.

It's a big country. The whole league averages 21,000 odd but they can only get 33k to a final?

Ice hockey is the number one sport in Canada, I believe. I really don't know where CFL would rank but I don't think you'd ever have a problem getting into a game that you wanted to see, including the finals.

Pitch is wider too. Albeit you get an extra defender. Goals are in the proper place - on the goal line (clue's in the name, NFL). Love the octagonal pitch in Montréal. Less teams than the NFL, less players to familiarise yourself with. Rabbits on the pitch at Calgary are always entertaining. They're the equivalent of Rugby League's dogs. Their "minigames" are an improvement on our "golden point".

And goal kickers will love the idea that you can get a point for missing.

It's a big country, as you said. It makes the trip to Wembley look like an afternoon stroll.

Do the CFL have offensive and defensive specialists  teams like NFL.

Dunno that they have two special teams. It sounds a bit excessive.

Especially as they don't have the crowds and audience the NFL has.

I wonder if a return to 2 Way Football/Platoon would make the game better and save money.

There's still forty-odd players dressed and ready to play so not much smaller than NFL.

I prefer CFL for a number of reasons.   It's more open with its wider pitch, more options in backfield, they get on with it a bit quicker, three downs rather than four means you have one less chance to get it right, less teams to familiarise yourself with.  Pretty much all the skills are transferrable between the two games, though.

It's down to personal choice.

Just both NFL and CFL get rid of Qtr Back and maybe we got a game 😉
