There are far too many void weekends. Indeed , and home games . It’s totally unsatisfactory and inadequate . And for the lowest teams struggling the most who need the match day revenues the most . I don’t understand why it’s beyond the wit of man to add some extra fixtures into the calendar to flesh the season out , it happens in other leagues . Seems bonkers to me that any club would turn them down, but I suppose if we were to play Cornwall away we would probably lose money. 1 The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet! SL have a play-off for their Championship. L1 has straight promotion for 1st place. Loop fixtures will always result in unfair advantages/disadvantages where straightforward promotion is possible, as it was always unfair in the case of relegation from SL. 1 Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change. If the RFL and the clubs had had more notice then maybe something could have been cobbled together but the announcement by WW came far too late. In the last 30 years the game has seen numerous clubs go to the wall, West Wales are just another to add to a long list ! how many of the traditional RL clubs have nearly gone out of business, most in the championship and league one have flirted with insolvency at least once in the last 20 years ! I’m all for developing areas and adding pro teams as they build up the community game in their area, but it’s a joke, the RFL seem happy to let any Tom, Dick or Harry from areas with no RL community game into the pro game, but when they get an application from a Manchester side who want to base themselves at the Ethiad campus they turn it down, even though the Manchester public is aware of the sport and it could have possibly been a shot in the arm for the sport at our level 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
