If you'll pardon the pun! As far as I'm concerned the old towns already gone to the dogs! Unless you want something to eat, put a bet on, or get your hair cut, What's to do in batley Town centre these days? Why pedestrianise a town centre that's got no shops? or a market place with only one stall, the money would be put to better use improving some of the sports facilities around the area, like batley baths, the all weather pitch up at the mount, or even allow batley a grant for more ground improvement, Im sorry about this little rant! I know it isn't about rugby or the club but the money should be spent where people will get enjoyment out of it! Because unfortunately these days! there isn't anything enjoyable about batley Town centre! Edited January 19 by The scrim reaper 4

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.
RogerT
If it's failed then all the levelling up brass will go to Dewsbury, new bus station, Huddersfield everything new, even Heckmondwike a new bus station. Batley a big fat ZERO.
doggystyle
The wings of Batley have bars and pubs so don't despair just yet. You need to frequent them to keep them open though. Nash at one end (Vic minutes away) and Tap Room at other end next door to Wetherspoons (Cellar Bar up the railway hill). Use them or lose them. Batley a big fat ZERO. Do keep up Roger. This is nothing to do with Kirklees. I could agree with your last analysis, though.
