1) We lost our opening game , again , 2)that will negatively effect us going forward , 3)we didn't do enough to win the game

1) Yes you did but it's only one game Gubby.

2) no it won't there was far more in that performance that was good than bad.

3) to some extent SRD stopped you from doing enough because they're now a very resilient side, things that would've phased them in the past are now taken in their stride

That game will be the making of what I think will be a good season back in SL for you.

We were completely devoid of ideas with ball in hand, Lam on occasion showed glimpses of what he can do but his half back partner O'Brien is as much use as a button on a sock, Salford even though not firing on all cylinders showed us how to play football, I am a fervent Leigh fan but I think if this is Adrian Lams best selection - no injuries -  this is going to be a long hard season for us unless we can recruit some  better players.

Watching Warrington last night they jettisoned those they believed were not good enough for SL and recruited those who were better suited to the job in hand, Leigh have signed 5 of those players who finished in 11th spot last season, enough said!

Only hope that my pessimistic thoughts get turned around, by the club, the coach and the players.

I thought Leigh and Derek did a great job tonight.

I think you make a good point about the ex Warrington players.

If they are open to improvement then it's good recruitment. But as you say,  they could be looked at as 5 players that the experienced coach of the side that finished 11th has rejected.

I think Ferguson was definitley missed tonight. I also think Pape plays better after Aaron Smith has had 20 minutes first.

Did you enjoy the game on the whole?

But our first game with a big crowd , next home game is Saints

We were poor with ball in hand

You didn't stop us offloading , we didn't offload

I'm worried now , Injuries will kill us

We did the basics , as every team needs to do , but they rarely win you the game unless the opposition is poor , you have to go out and win the game ,

Sorry, but I dont think you did.

Your catch/pass is poor, and so the receiver is often under unnecessary pressure. It stops your attack flowing. When the catch/pass is on point, then you looked much more dangerous. Charney for the first try of a good ball from Lam being one example.

Leigh are not alone in this regard. Super League is full of sides who lack precision in their catch/pass.  Salford were often guilty of the same thing tonight.

Not sure what to make of that TBH. Bit disappointed in Salford but we ground out the win and agree with whoever said Brierley was MOM above. He had a good game. We never win at Leigh though so the 2 points is the main thing but plenty to work on.

Not seen the stats yet but seems like we got absolutely hammered by Smith on the penalty count and would like to know what we were doing differently to Leigh to warrant that. Also interesting to see that refs are now capable of giving penalty tries.... shame it's around 6 months too late.

Need a vast improvement against KR next week or we could come a cropper.

Big positive was the crowd. Let's hope it's an omen for the rest of the season that we're going to see a lot more bums on seats. Whilst Salford have been long derided for their home support they put a lot of the big clubs to shame when it comes to away games.

"breaking the rules and getting caught" comes to mind.

Seemed only one team was getting caught but hey we got the 2 points so I'll settle for that.👍 Usually you lose a penalty count heavily when you're getting dominated and that clearly wasn't the case. Felt like we were playing at Headingley for most of the game.😁

I agree after watching the match on TV , so many forward passes thrown from acting HB by Salford , it was like being at Headingley

I enjoyed the game.

The penalty try award just illustrates how Salford were denied a place in the final last year.

Hopefully they can go one better this year.

It was a good game with two able sides.

I saw your first set of fixtures and they're not easy but unless some club is going to be useless when they play everyone all SL fixtures are difficult.

The mixture of feelings you're having is fan-defeat psychosis and it took the Wolves fans the close season to get over theirs.

Next up Fan-win Euphoria a much better experience but equally delusional.

Enjoy this it won’t be long before Degsy is doing a turn at halftime. Maybe a young boy will stop him in the street and ask nay beg him to do the halftime entertainment. With a tear in his eye he’ll say for you son I will.

Regardless of what people think of the branding etc - it looked impressive on Sky, full house, good atmosphere etc.

Looks like a potentially tough season for Leigh however.  Could they be relegated and still get a license for next season…

Yes it was Great!

I don't think it will be tough for Leigh , at least no tougher than for everyone else.

"and still get a license for next season…" no this can't happen.

Am I right to take the lack of response to the Karen Roberts question means it is true?

I really enjoyed that game from the excellent build up and through the whole game itself. Really good, tough opener with both teams going at it. Leigh looked good, Salford just had a little more quality overall but I can see both teams having good seasons.

How good was it to see the LSV full as well, looked like a great atmosphere and hopefully the crowds keep coming. The wins won't be far away. I do think they would have benefitted from bringing in a top controlling half but they aren't exactly ten a penny.

I heard that too. Also heard that there may have been an incident involving the sun deck king, booze and a bit of handbags

Bo Derek looked tuned in pre-match.

I think it may be time that us fans own up to disliking more or less everything, over reacting to losses, taking very little evidence to mean huge dramatic consequences and essentially being more emotional than a hen night in Blackpool.

Absolute Magic isn't it?
