I think there was quite a few in the 2005 squad

Maybe you are correct but when you talk about that Bradford side its the overseas players who spring to mind,

You will have to enlighten me how many played in the GF winning sides and came through the junior system. If wrong I will hold my hands up.

No idea i am not a Bradford fan, i just reeled off names of their home grown players through their glory years, i have probably missed some too.

Some pretty decent talent in that lot though so i don't think anyone could really argue against it as a lot of them were their mainstays for a successful time.

No more so than Saints with the likes of Gidley, Lyon, Cayless, Puletua, Flannery, Fasavalu, Soliola, Hohaia, Albert

Leeds with Webb, Donald, Lauititi, Delaney, Leuluai, Buderus, Cuthbertson, Moon, Mckenna, Furner etc

The Leeds one I will disagree on, people always refer to the group of players who came through the academy from Sinfield and a shed full more.

I was losing all arguments till you put that one in (thank you).

Look at the 2004 gf side homegrown players.

Mathers, burrow, mcguire, sinfield, ward,   Bailey, walker, calderwood, diskin, jjb.

that got us a GF win after years and years of trying to buy a title.

We warned Leeds fans about Sezer being a player for himself and not a team one, hence why most Giants fan were more than happy to see him leave, we have been proved right time and again, he only turns up when he wants,

Absolute waste of 2 clubs finances in his time over here.

Sezer was actually pretty good for is when he wasn’t injured last year

I'm not arguing anything i was merely responding to the original comment regarding Bradford's homegrown lot.

A bit touchy, just a figure of speech.

Not at all, apologies if it came across that way, let's agree to leave this as we've both made our points on it.

You aren't an elite level athlete. This is across the squad as well. They look to be carrying higher bodyfat than other years.

So to clarify, you're saying daryl Clark, is carrying higher body fat?

Thats what you're saying?

We could do with Corey hall at the moment but he left a couple of years ago as he couldn't get in the side, he always looked too lightweight to me at the time. He had Newman, Hurrell, Sutcliffe x2 all above him in the pecking order hence why he only played 4 games.

I don't think were missing Ormandroyd that much but he's gone on to be a steady player, Harrison? the one that is playing for Wire? he was only with us as a short term loan from featherstone and played 4 games, its a bit of a huge stretch to say he was a Rhinos youth product especially as he was 23/24 when he played four games for us, he's a product of the  Bradford Academy I think.

Ormandroyd is better than what we have in the front row Oledski aside Harrison is a local lad and I thought he was impressive when on loan and we could have signed him and I don't need to state the obvious regarding the center options, bad business over the off season on that score.

That is kind of the point of homegrown players though, unless they form a bit of a dynasty like at Leeds, they are there to be the backbone of a squad whilst imports provide the extra bits that are lacking.

The likes of which we will never see again. 👀

Back to the game...Very disappointing effort from Leeds. The preseason has seemed a bit of a mess-about for Leeds, and the club as a whole seemed a bit complacent.

I think Smith got a couple of selections wrong, with our wings and centres being the wrong way round. Roberts has been one of the few standouts in preseason, mainly at centre, so I'd definitely shift him there, and Olpherts was supposedly signed as a wing/centre.  Tetevano again offered nothing, but its OK cos he trains really hard.

The biggest problem is the defensive intensity - or lack of it.  Probably didn't help that our starting props have barely played a game in a year, but if that's part of the problem then the coach should be aware of it before the game. hopefully Smith hasn't decided to continue to use a 'passive' defence all year. There's a reason no other teams do it.

I know Sezer gets some stick, and understandably so, but if you're getting mullered 30-0 through defensive clangers combined with losing massive yardage every set then there's a limit to what any halfback can do. The forwards have to sort themselves out first.
