Young's in a tricky spot now. Marzhew did well so not easy to get back in. Spending much of the season in the NSW Cup won't help prep him for a big first season at the Roosters.

There are loads of variations in a full season, players pick up injuries, suspensions etc. plus changes in form.

They are 4 rounds into the season, I expect he will get plenty of NRL game time this year.

At the moment we're gambling our season with Leeds' clumsy liabilities.

Greg Marzhew had a very strong game at the weekend in Newcastle's win and absolutely deserves to keep his spot.

Equally, Young had a few poor errors in the first couple of rounds and cannot complain about others being given a chance.  He has to work hard to get his spot back now.

But, despite the agenda of some (well one!) on here, let's not get carried away.  In a full season in 2022 Marzhew made more errors per game than Young did and so we are talking about very few games here to say one of them is a 'clumsy liability'.

I am no RL coaching expert. However I would imagine that it does a young player no harm to be taken out of the equation for a while, re assess, up skill certain areas and come again. Think about it. Dom made a massive decision to chance his arm on the other side of the world. The initial chances were that he may never have made a first grade appearance etc and people would not have thought anything else of it. However - made lots of appearances scoring lots of try’s. Plays for England scoring lots of try’s. Seals a big money move to one of the NRL’s more established club’s next season. I think he has done ok!

I have stated before that Dom has certain areas where he needs to work on and I am sure he will. Did I ever think he would get this far when I watched him at school and junior level- I certainly did not. I always questioned his heart and desire for such a physically developed young man.

However he is well ahead of his time and doing absolutely great at this stage of his career.

nothing would make me happier than to see Dom Young become one of the worlds top wingers and hope that he can achieve that goal at the Roosters - just because I didn't join in with the earlier "well over the top"  ratings of the lad on here and had concerns about parts of his game doesn't mean I  have an agenda - he has the world at his feet and I wish him nothing but the best

I don't really care about your attitiude or hopes, that is up to you.

What I am pushing back against is your assertion that he won't get back into the Knights team because he is a (in your words) 'clumsy liability' when the player who replaced him mades more errors per game last season.

I prefer to deal with sensible and reasonable descriptions of players based on evidence rather than over dramatic and over the top characterisation.

“More errors per game last season…..” but they are picking a team for this season. On current form who offers more?

Well you seem to like using 1 game as a basis for current form so you’d have to say Young.

Pleased to see Young bounce back so well.  A bit of good fortune for him that he got a chance back in first grade so quickly due to the injury to Hunt but he had to take the chance and he did.

Personally, I think Marzhew and Young are the best wingers at the Knights and quite a formidable pair given their size and tackle busting.

johnny won't be able to post for a few hours because he is on the way to Australia as he has been recruited by a top NRL club as Chief Scout.

Well done …lets hope he can improve his all round game while keeping up the scoring. You can only play the team in front of you but he will face better teams than the northern beachballs.

Quite possibly the worst full back play I've seen from Miller:

Lachlan Miller is a good broken field runner but very very green at full back positionally in both attack and defence.

You would have to think that Bailey Hodgson would be in with a shout of an NRL start if his NSW Cup form continues.  Maybe with Miller as an impact role off the bench.

He played very well. Ended in a draw as well

Not just the tries he scored, but he also made the try-saving tackle that sent the game into Golden Point.

I've watched it 3 times and I have absolutely no idea what he was trying to accomplish. Was he trying to psych him out, pretend the try line no longer existed in this dimension?

Maybe he was trying to trick him into putting the ball down over the dead ball line? 🤔 Pity someone put those big posts there to give the try line away!
