IMG Grading Unveiled

According to TRL

It is understood that Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers are NOT the club to have abstained in Super League, with Salford Red Devils doing so on the proviso that they needed more information.

Hunslet, Dewsbury Rams and West Wales Raiders abstained from League One, with Whitehaven, Keighley Cougars, Batley Bulldogs and Featherstone Rovers doing the same in the Championship.

No votes against?

That's a pretty poor reason by Salford. This process has been ongoing for some time now and they've had plenty of opportunity to seek clarification/more information

Bower reporting they now want their vote logged as a yes

I want to say lily-livered...

I would agre, they don't have the guts to say no, however, is anyone surprised at those who have abstained? they want change but they don't want to change anything that might affect them, they want the game to move forward but not at their expense. it is the same old story that has plagued Rugby League since it broke away from Union and that is why we are no further on now than we were over a hundred years ago. The game needs to change or we will disappear, we may not like some of the proposals but what else is on the table? this may be our last chance to bring the game into the 21st century. Let's face it the majority of clubs have poor support comparted to other mainstream spectator sports, the grounds are an absolute disgrace on the whole and for too long the people running the game have been doing it for their own benefit.

Actually I think there is a lot to be positive about, a lot of clubs play in good, modern facilities and record decent if not massive crowds. The problem is reinforcing that reality as opposed to the image problem the sport has.

In terms of the votes it seems 3 abstained and 7 voted against. I presume these are clubs but could also include other parties in the RL Council.

Anyway at least we know now that Keighley's campaign was working and the silent majority turned out...

Yup.

A majority across all three divisions is pretty conclusive aint it?

I would say so.

Only Hunslet appear to have come out publicly against, and tbh having read their press report on why they did (a members meeting) its not hard to see why they are where they are.

I would assume Keighley are another and are just waiting to put out a statement. As for the others who knows yet.

They are firmly in the minority however, in not just the professional ranks but the whole sport. They should be reminded of that any time they speak with authority on the matter.

Always enjoy the spin on stuff like this. Mick Gledhill stating that 'only' eight of the 13 Champ clubs voted in favour. That's a pretty strong endorsement tbh, and twice as many Champ clubs voted in favour as voted against.
