Wakefield Property Advice

Hi, this is a request for advice from either the Wakefield fans or people who live there or have done. I’m thinking about moving into the area in the next year or so and would welcome some advice. I’m not just talking about central Wakefield here but anywhere roundabout there, places that might not be obvious to outsiders but are nice places to live. Could include places outside this area I suppose but this is my original starting point. 

General information: No children so don’t need schools etc. No new builds for us thanks. Nowhere too busy or built up (somewhere “boring” is ideal). Not next to a huge industrial estate or anything, in fact anywhere that generates a lot of traffic. Budget up to £300k but ideally less (I am from Yorkshire)
 

I accept I sound like a fussy bleeder and suppose I am but given all that, any advice or tips would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

North Wakefield is quite nice and there's some villages, like Carlton, spread between there and Rothwell which are nice.
