Claiming P&R play-offs are unique to soccer.

Also they are the best thing ever.

Pay no attention.

They also only want to discuss football records that span the period of time they’ve been broadcasting the top flight.

Hype not history.

To be fair you’d think RL only started in 1996.

I'd say that rugby league celebrates it's history more than football does to be fair.

I did see a quiz programme called Impossible on daytime tv while on lunch whereby more contestants than not thought the Minnesota Vikings had won the Challenge Cup final than the Catalans Dragons!

There was at least one confident Welsh bloke who knew the answer.

The other option were the Toronto Wolfpack.

Don't know what this thread is doing here, but before it's put on AOB or binned- The football play offs generate huge interest,  great attendances and keep the season alive for so many teams until the season ends. Still, IMG will ensure RL slowly but inevitably gets rid of silly p+r.

Football can, just, afford it.

I just don't buy this about RL just can't afford p+r. Disaster apparently if a big team gets relegated, really?

If for example Hull FC get relegated,  so what? Will the game financially collapse? No , it'll mean a big team in the second tier, big attendances when Hull visit Fax or whoever,  SL will carry on. When Glasgow Rangers got relegated to the fourth tier that absolutely destroyed the competition in the Premiership,  but it muddled on, the lower tiers gained.

If RL had liberal p+r, two up two down, fans might just like it, who knows.

Football is a global sport played by billions

RL is played by at most 100K in the M62 corridor, plus just happens to be the main sport in Aus right now, but has litte or no traction outside of Aus, the Pacific Islands, southern france pocket and the M62 corridor in England.

Its like comparing windsor castle to my mates cabbage allotment.

Pick any division in the pyramid.

Then look two divisions below it.

In that latter division will be more than a handful of teams who are as well resourced/supported/historic/whatever-but-equal-or-better than more than a handful of teams in the former division.

I saw a video of a crowd of 1,100+ at a 'Division 9' game yesterday.

There is no comparison and, as for griping that it's all hype, then the response to that has to be: "Yes ... and?"

We could do with a lot more hype in our game. But then we could do with feeling like the audience believes the games matter and that coming across.

As always, any comparisons between football and RL are futile.

The comparison is not about money, but about fans and what they want  what keeps them interested,  what may drive attendances up, and how broadcasters like Sky view the product being offered to them.

Sky have just agreed to pay EFL £935 million up from 595m, which is , excuse my maths which isn't great,  a 57% increase. So they obviously like play offs and P+R at Sky.

If we get a 57% increase in money from Sky for the next super league deal, I'll believe Elvis is still alive, and living in the arctic with Santa Claus and Superman

57% increase on £25m a year is 14.25m so that's 39.25m , what it was before virtually. Is that so unachievable? If so, sad !

I didn't mention money....?

In fact, you've mentioned money and somehow attributed the Sky increase to somehow being to do with the EFL having P+R - not sure what exactly indicates that? Even if it that is true i'll say again....there's literally no value in comparing anything that happens with football to RL - it's a completely different beast.

Sky have less money than before (they are losing subscribers all the time), and paying more out for rights for football.  In addition RL does not have other broadcasters banging at the door to cover 2 SL games every week = NRL.  Lack of compatition for rights + smaller pot of avalilable money means I don't see SKY offering much more than current 25M.  Like who is going to take the rights away from them? DASN I doubt it, and Discovery \ BT Sport have never shown any interest in RL, and I doubt viaplay have 25M for a small UK sport

Just ignore. It's boosterism.

Football "only" started in 1993 when the Premier League started for most of the media.

Or 2009 if you support them petro-fascistic fueled powder blues.
