Haven can't pay the player's, gorley stands down, then haven appoint amor,is he doing job for free🤷

Apparently he's an ambassador for  their main sponsor so they are paying him, that's the crack , he will be lucky if he has a team as apparently there is a players meeting tonight regarding all the shenanigans going on , it's better than Dallas this .

Amor just announced that the players have had a meeting and they won't be fulfilling their remaining fixtures, looks like the end of the road.

This is a pretty sad situation. It's obviously very good for Barrow short term but we need 3 strong thriving Cumbrian clubs long term.

It sounds like a stand off between current players and the returning board. Is there a chance the board all resign and the players fulfil the fixtures or will the board stand their ground and rebuild in league 1?

I would say for a large number of games this year that is definitely true

Not true guys, even on Egremont and Kells derby days the historic crowds of 1,000 plus are rarely seen.  Last week there was just over 200 at the Brow.

Don't forget town have had some really disappointing crowds this year, that came from diehard townies.

Many of us are devastated with what's going on with Haven and not looking forward to joining town in the league of death.  That said we beat Swinton twice this year,  if we drop out and our results are expunged,  does that affect Barrow?

Just to note I support any rugby league across the county at all levels.

I'm not that optimistic to think we'd even have a club to go into L1 mate.

Didn't even think about that in regards to Swinton/Barrow and no idea how it would work?

I think that there is enough local talent in Cumbria for haven to field a team in league 1 next year if it comes to that. Barrow did it when Holt was in charge and town are resetting now. Hopefully haven can pull through and don't just fold as we need 3 sides! With regards to Swinton I've no idea what the RFL will do and knowing them they won't make a decision until the last minute

I suppose it depends on if any local would sign for us after this debacle!!

I wonder if they might just do away with the playoff game and just promote Keighley or whoever wins L1 play offs to replace Haven? Would be the most logical thing imo but the RFL probably wouldn't agree 🤣

Thought town might get a mention somewhere 😆 I think town have been getting better crowds than haven this year even in league 1 marra even against teams that bring a car full of none at all 😉

You're forgetting that some of Havens attendances this year have been quoted as 300/400 so yes The Brows crowds have been higher.

Still wrong, leave you with it other than to remind you that I've been at Derwent Park when there's been 400 there.

  • The RFL has pressed Whitehaven RLFC for an explanation after it was revealed the club's players have refused to play the rest.

Under the RFL rules, if Whitehaven forfeited games then a 48-0 result would be given to their opponent and the club could also face a charge of bringing the sport into disrepute

Yeah seen that mate, just to add to our woes!

Funny thing is, it could all be sorted so easily I reckon, everyone doesnt like whoever it is in the board... That's fine.... Said person/people take a step back for the next 6 games and step forward again in pre-season or step away completely and start afresh, baffling how hard everyone is making it and not putting the club first!

Either way a decision on the rest of the season needs to be made this week before the Dewsbury match

I have to disagree with it being good for barrow short term. We are due a home fixture with them, one which barrow will banking on to get the money in on the day and will have been part of the budget for this season. So it’s a disaster for haven and also the clubs they are owing an away fixture too.
Rugby league is struggling all over so a team pulling out can have huge consequences for other teams especially if this costs teams a home fixture.
The RFL for me should be held to account. The fact they allowed haven to sign and register overseas players for this season is baffling after they nearly went bust last season. How they have not kept a close eye on the money in and out of haven is why they are now left without a team.
On a different note, I would think all their players could leave for free as Haven will have breached their contracts by not paying the players. Union had it with wasps where their players were able to go to other teams during a season and I realise the deadline for signing has passed but  maybe the RFL should consider players financial welfare and allow them to sign for other teams.

The 48-0 result for forfeited only applies in the community game. I have checked the operational rules this morning and the RFL board are the ones to make the decision and it is up to them what decision they make. I guess if they don't fulfil their fixtures the 2 options are to remove all their results or give 48-0 or similar for their remaining games. Removing their results would be worse for Halifax who have beaten them and best for Swinton who have lost twice to them.

Hopefully they can muster a side to see out the season but with the signing deadline passed they won't be able to do it without dispensation which may bring penalties even if they fulfil the fixtures.

From a selfish point of view losing the home fixture in September will be bad for us financially.

Many times, and I was there when it was less than 300 . That’s history now, still no need to bring Town into this, just can’t help yourselves 🙁

I was only responding to town snipers on here, don't blame others.

Apologies to Barrow fans

Why apologise the Barrow fans ? It was Town you were having a dig at. 🤷‍♂️

No need to apologise at all. The constant bickering between Town and Haven fans is always entertaining. 😁
