I'm afraid there just isn't a logic I can follow here.

Non-fans are not interested in whether Toby King or Stefan Ratchford is named at Centre for Wire on a weekend. This is 100% a preference piece, some like it to be named early, some are happy with it being left to the last minute when the actual team is confirmed and won't be changed.

Watching major football tournaments, the discussion all week is around what the team may be, what combinations may be used etc. You could argue that adds to the excitement, talking points, suspense.

To call it small-minded is weird. It's nothing of the sort and there is no logic to that claim.

I find it small-time, not small-minded.

It would boost SL fantasy comps and bring a focus to game week if the 1-17s plus 18th and 19th Man were released at a set time on a Wednesday.

I just feel there is a good chance that it would paint the comp as more modern, reaching out, coordinated, and inviting of new faces.

But, what do I know... I'm just a sports fan in a different country trying to offer something that I think could perk up SL's presentation and out-reach.

You appear to have gone down a strange route of people disagreeing you being unfriendly as you are an 'outsider'.

Your point about naming a team on Wednesday being more inviting of new faces makes literally no sense.

That's what I'm questioning. How on earth does naming a team on Weds do this?

It seems that UK RL's approach is more in line with major comps like the Premier League, NBA and NFL.

But we seem to be small-time.

I can see why people prefer either approach but don't think it's a particularly big thing either way and think that any benefits are pretty negligible. It just boils down to personal preference.

No, I'm emphasising my outsider view. I'm not suggesting that others have disparaged me as an outsider.

I disagree. I think it would create more content and visibility. The alphabetical ordering strikes me as unnecessarily dense and impenetrable.

I always check the NRL line-ups on Wednesday evening/Thursday morning before making my Tipping Comp picks and it's just handy, accessible, and putting the game out there in the days leading up to the weekend. It wouldn't make a massive change to SL visibility outside RL circles but in an optics sense I do feel it would up the vibrancy and sense of a sport engaging with potential viewers.

Just my view. It's certainly not the biggest issue in the sport in England though.

Some late observations on the series……

How sad is it to see the demise of RTS. He’s a shadow of his former self since his holiday in Union. It’s really blunted his skills and lost his electric pace off the mark

England need Farnworth at right centre and Wardle at left centre against the Aussies next year. Newman is too poor a defender

Shot in the dark here but the half and half scarfs that were being sold out side the games.. does anyone know if they can still be bought?

Ebay might be your best bet they weren't official sellers.

He is 31, might be his age. Not sure why playing RU would make him slower.

Because you lose your edge when you're not used to playing high intensity games

Because you aren’t playing a sport. The body deconditions over that length of time doing very little. (Err, what doubled said!)

The international game is smaller than it was a few years ago, the pacific cup is a downgrade on the old four/tri nations in terms of fixtures, and there is no ANZAC game., it is false to say it is growing every year.

It is growing every year for the last decade though, or thereabouts (and I know that isn’t what was suggested by the previous poster), however, are you neglecting the fact that there were two Pacific tournaments running at the same time, so there were two matches each week for four weeks which I believe is more than the number of fixtures we usually saw in Tri/Four Nations tournaments of the past isn’t it? That is before adding England test matches against SH opponents.
