England vs Samoa Series

Recommended Posts

Just had a look at tickets for the game again, very reasonably priced, top bracket £40 and if you buy 10 you can get 40% off! I’ll defo be pulling together a group of 10 for Headingley.

I do think we are under-selling ourselves though. But let’s hope for a sell out (if they finally release all the seats!)

Harry Jepson Winners 2008

RLC Midlands Premier Champions 2006 & 2008

East Midlands Challenge Cup Winners 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008

I fear we are on for the same as last year.

What exactly have they done to promote it so far? They announced it. Then announced a squad. And they'll reveal the kit in Castleford soon.

Well yes I agree. Does seem like another ‘budget’ production from the RFL.

Yep it's always best be for centres to be on their preferred/club position side

Agreed. And Farnworth typically plays left but he was right last week and was outstanding.

Wardle's footwork needs him to be left as he has that outside run. Not saying he can't play right but he may be less effective.  Farnworth has less conventional footwork and so I think he shifts more easily.  As he has proved.

I think quality centres are a really under valued group of players. Quality halves and quality centres combining can be a joy to watch and can be the difference between a win and a loss.

It drives me mad when we play it down and put the likes of Currie or Bateman there.

I'm not sure if it's ironic or serious but Oxen genuinely do have a shop at Castleford's J32 Outlet now...

Oh dear...

I mean even Headingley or Wigan as one of the venues would have been better...

If you don't laugh you'll cry

i see the new kit has just launched, had a message on instagram with the launch video from England RL. Not sure about it, but it’s definitely bold whilst being obviously England. Also continues the progression towards the GB kit (which is what we should do rather than worry about the name!)

I'm obviously still giddy from parkrun because I do like that shirt.

Agreed although have to say Wardle just gets better and better so would back him on the right too

Side note on Newman in general....anyone noticed how poor his left to right distribution is....last night from dummy and in normal play he made several very poor passes inside that nearly caused errors...not his main job of course but still relevant

1. Welsby

2. Young 3. Farnworth 4. Wardle 5. Johnstone

6. Williams 7. Smith

13. Radley

11. Pearce-Paul 12. Nsemba

8. Burgess 9. Walker 10. Thompson

14. Lewis 15. Clark 16. Mulhern 17. McMeeken

Arguably the most exciting English backline in 30+yrs. The backrow superb as well.

I know it won’t happen but I would be binning the following if the squad is 24:

Marshall, Hill, Lees, Knowles, Litten, Dupree, Smithies (7)

I think Radley will withdraw with injury...

I would go

1. Welsby

2. Young

3. Farnworth

4. Wardle

5. Marshall

6. Williams

7. Smith

8. T.Burgess

9. Clark

10. Hill

11. KPP

12. Mcmeekan

13. Smithies

14. Lewis

15. Thompson

16. Nsemba

17. Mulhern

i think the squad in general looks very good - maybe one concern is the size of our pack vs samoa - hence my choice of sticking with Hill and Burgess to start (tbh i don't feel like they have ever let england down - even if club form this year hasn't been at usual standard)

Would also require long minutes from Clarke at hooker.... not sure if smithies has played hooker before or even Lewis?
