I had you pegged for a young at heart late 40 something.

Early 50 something but I like the young at heart part.

Early fifties, youthful, a passion for stats and an anorak in the wardrobe, what’s not to like Dunbar 😁

I can add your profile picture is a 10 out of 10.

The best Stand off Australia has ever produced with one of the best Half Backs in the best Challenge Cup I have seen.

He is still only young, and as others have said, staying at Saints is still better than going to a terrible NRL club like the Dragons.

I find the criticism of his ambition interesting.

What is more ambitious - becoming a legend at a premier RL club like St Helens (say, James Roby) or going and playing in the NRL (say Luke Thompson)?

Which one is the more respectable "ambition"? Is wandering around the lower edges of the NRL on more cash more "ambitious" than trying to build/maintain a dynasty and become a legend of the sport as a consequence? Roby never played in the NRL but you can be sure that he was respected by our NRL friends.

FWIW I believe he will go to the NRL, just not quite yet. And like Farrell, Sculthorpe, Peacock, Roby, Cunningham and many more before him, we will all know that he is a special player whether he is proving how special he is here or in the NRL.

I remember people being adamant that James Graham couldn't cut it in the NRL . . . .

I am very much an 'anyone but Saints' person but even I think this is a great bit of business from them. The lad is quality and will in all likelihood only get better with each season played.

If he is happy at Saints for the time being then fair play to him to for resigning for them.

Do Saints fans think he will move to 6 when Lomax finishes.  Personally I think if he played there week in week out he could be a better 6 than fullback.

For me yes but I suppose that would depend on how good his replacement at fullback is. The ideal for Saints is that Bennison develops into a top class fullback at this level allowing Welsby to move into the halves.

Not a saints fan but follow them very closely. I think this is very likely especially if Dodd moves on to an NRL club. Saints will be needing to fill a gap in the halves and with Bennison to play it fullback it would be perfect. Jon Bennison is a outstanding player but he is primarily a fullback and needs to be playing there week in and week out to reach his full potential. Seems a like a win-win situation for st Helens.

Not conjecture, just my opinion.

I thought it was just between me and Dunbar.

Always good to have your input though Harry.

I agree that he looks to be better suited to stand off than full back but I think we will keep him at full back. As was shown last year, the more that he has his hands on the ball, the better and I think he could organise well from stand off.

I suppose it depends what the coach at the time wants, that may still be Wellens but not guaranteed with his contract up at the end of this season.

Great to be able to watch him play TGG in the northern hemisphere. It will be fascinating to see how he responds if the next 4 years are very different from the win everything era he has played in thus far.
