I've watched Regan a few times on the telly. He looks to have lost weight, his tackling (not that he shies away from it) is flimsy and he doesn't come charging onto the ball. He plainly has not recovered all his former confidence.

I think he needs an off season on the weights, an RL coach who believes in him and a set of fans that will get behind him. In short, Castleford.

Possibly lacks confidence to come running on to the ball for fear of another injury when he's tackled.

Undoubtedly. I have a lot of sympathy because I was the same though, obviously, not at anywhere near that level.

It beats me how RL props come back from serious injury and can just carry on being bashing machines.

A real shame for Grace, desperately unlucky with injuries. If he can stay fit for a year or so it's not too late for him to recover some of that early magic. Worth a gamble I'd have thought.

Matt Frawley back to Huddersfield, apparently.

God knows why, he was awful for us 1st time round and even worse for Leeds, well i do, Clune injured again so it's cover for the backs.

Yet another kick in the teeth for the young guys wasting their time in Hull KR's "ornamental" Academy

Whitehead looks a cracking prospect. Reminds me of a young Ben currie. As a wire fan I am not happy about this one bit. Especially as it will probably be followed by announcing a 2 year extension for Burgess's golden boy crowther.

Notable for his missed tackles playing for the reserves this week.

He looks one hell of an athlete. Might not work out but it's definitely worth giving him the chance.

I feel like you'd be better served with Lolohea and Rush in the halves rather than going back to Frawley

He has the raw attributes any coach would look for. It's just a question of how well he can be molded into a RL player.

Kallum Watkins signing a contract extension at Leeds on top of Ryan Hall doing the same  has to be a frikkin joke - how far is the standard of SL going to drop before it just hits the floor?

They've both improved Leeds so earned another year, but the number of players coming through across the league is a worry.

Hopefully not, it's an initial 1 month loan, not sure how long Clune will be out for this time.

Murchie has returned home.

On Watkins and Hall, I'd say Leeds are quite well placed with juniors.

In terms of backs we've got Lumb, Edgell, McCormack x 2, Max Simpson (well done to the lad for persevering by the way) and Sinfield coming through, and although we're a bit lighter in the forwards we've got Nicholson-Watton, Ben Littlewood and Presley Cassell who are highly rated amongst others. But it will be another year or so before some of these lads are ready for regular rugby. Shame that Gannon isn't staying as he's a cracking prospect as well.

While Rohan Smith had his faults, he was spot on in asking where the players in their early 20s were who should have been at the club pushing for a first team spot. Somewhere along the line (I'd say at least a decade ago) the club lost its way completely in terms of junior development.

Junior development cannot be taken for granted - even the biggest clubs need to invest serious money into finding and bringing through kids. Trying to do it on the cheap and not putting people in place who know how to find and nurture juniors just doesn't work. This isn't Australia where even the worst run clubs will unearth a couple of cracking young players every year because there are just so many of them.

The craziest thing about this at Leeds is that the 'Golden Generation' was the result of a genuine focus on junior development. Somehow we went from that to a series of former players with no coaching credentials running the Academy and a non-existent development programme. The result was as predictable as it was awful.
