Keighley 26th May

As daft as it sounds the Yeds could have won if the dropped ball over the line and Koppy dropping the ball with the line in front of him. If buts and maybes!

Why wasn't Mo in the side? I'm sure they wouldn't have scored two down that side if he had been playing.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

I'm sure he was named in the squad?

Not suggesting we would have won but he would have stiffened up what is a very weak side. I can't understand why Longy perseveres with Johnson at centre. Anyway back to the easy fixtures and loads of points.

Apparently Mo had a stomach problem. We’re obviously better with him, but ultimately I don’t think his absence was the cause of the loss- far too many other factors for that.

Injured in training after the squad had been announced

Yes, then shortly after we scored Danny Craven dropped it over the line. Then JT’s pass went behind Tyrer with the line wide open. Last 20 minutes Keighley were knackered and there for the taking.

oldham where very unlucky with a few things.

first i have watched the disallowed try by lawton.

over and over and in my opinion he got the ball down.

then the break by lawton he then passed the ball to mackensie turner who was in the clear but was easily caught.he is not fast enough for a winger.

been mo he would have been under the sticks.

the the try by the keighley centre is he called sau was yards offside.

but in the right centre and wing if okeefe and mo are out, we have nobody to replace  them our week point.

The game highlighted some issues for long to sort out.  it will help with wardle and O’Keefe back in the side but for me-

koppy needs to play bigger minutes

we need another quality centre in the squad

plt has a lot of errors in his game

we lack speed across the park

we can’t change things up with a bench full of forwards. Paga, Astley or Aldridge should’ve been in the team.

Agreed. Sean Long stressed that we were going for a ‘power game’ in his pre-match interview. Ok to be so one dimensional against the lesser quality (no disrespect) teams than Keighley, but against a team with a lot more offensive quality we needed a Plan B, an x-factor beyond the simplistic. Hopefully the lesson will be learned for the next two Keighley matches. It may well prove that Hunslet beating Keighley was our most important result of the season.

On the day I thought we were out enthused and were never in the game. Looking back with hindsight, I do not think we were far off. Their first try I thought the whole of their right hand side were offside at the kick. their try in the second half came off a penalty which I thought should have gone the other way. It looked like Adam Lawton grounded the ball OK.

You cannot take any the effort from Keighley, but on another day the scores could easily have been reversed.
