The Phantom Horseman Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Unless we concluded some late business before yesterday's end-of-season trasnfer deadline that we haven't announced yet, I make it that we have 25 players on our books for the rest of the season, plus DR, but at least one and maybe two of those 25 are out for the season. I make it we have Aekins Harris Eden Gale Jeffery Minikin Wynne Lacans (out for season) Reynolds Patton Jones Bowes Massey (injured, possibly needs an op) Springer Nakubuwai Lockwood Bussey (reportedly set to return thisweekend) Addy (current injury status uncertain) Albert (reportedly set to return next weekend) Beckett Kamano (not included in this week's squad so possibly injured) Kibula Arnold Hardcastle Day We currently have 2 players suspended and 4 or 5 injured. The return of Jones, Gale and Patton in the next few weeks should help but we can't afford too many new injuries or suspensions. The squad is a bit lopsided (lots of middles, but only a couple of back rows and halves) but that's the same with most Championship teams at the moment, where, in particular, there just aren't any half backs available; last weekend, 3 of the top 4 teams in the league, Wakefield, Toulouse and Bradford, played a full back or a hooker at half back, in fact across the league most clubs have had to play someone out of position at half back, so it's not just us. 2 "I won’t engage in a debate because the above is correct and if anything else is stated to the contrary it’s incorrect."Â

He was in the squad for weeks on end without making the 17, but for 3 or 4 weeks now he hasn't made the 21 even when we have only been able to name 19 or 20, and we have just signed another young winger, so for whatever reason (injury or other) he seems to be out of the equation. 1 "I won’t engage in a debate because the above is correct and if anything else is stated to the contrary it’s incorrect."Â
The Phantom Horseman Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Also I'm not sure we have officially confirmed this ourselves but Rochdale announced yesterday that Dean Roberts who had been on loan there since June has signed on a permanent basis for them for the rest of the season. Featherstonerovers2000 Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 It’s shame what is happening at Whitehaven and looks like they will be releasing a lot of their players. Having been and watched us play against Whitehaven at the start of the season I thought they had some good players. so the questions is if you could sign anyone from Whitehaven who would you sign ?? id personally sign any of Jake Maizen Lucas castle Ryan kingÂ

This is really not the right sort of thing to be discussing. I really hope Whitehaven manage to get through this, but surely we are better than discussing which of their players we might sign on the day they have announced that their existence is under threat? 4 "I won’t engage in a debate because the above is correct and if anything else is stated to the contrary it’s incorrect."Â

So why not talk about the players who aren’t getting paid and have families at home to provide for and also probably been told to find new clubs just like we did at the end of last season and the will need to find new clubs to actually get paid on time instead of not been paid last months wage and win bonus ???

Eh? I've seen the Whitehaven chairman's video where he talks about the players not having been paid their bonuses etc. I just don't think it's a good look for fans to talk about exploiting the situation, especially when we have had our own share of cashflow problems ourselves. Surely we can have a bit of empathy with their situation rather than immediately trying to think how their misery could benefit us? 7 "I won’t engage in a debate because the above is correct and if anything else is stated to the contrary it’s incorrect."Â

I think the problem is more the club is being running into ground by bad ownershipÂ
