It's all done a shoestring budget and many will be volunteering to do it.

Whilst it's annoying things aren't bang on all the time , they're basically a local amateur team affiliated to a men's super league team for box ticking. There is literally zero money In the women's game so to expect nrl levels of media presence is frankly ridiculous

So why can Super League clubs do it, and others can't? Sheffield Eagles seem to manage it as well, and Barrow for that matter.

Huddersfield won pretty comfortably in the end up. A pretty close game in the first half with Leigh dominating teritory but lacking that player who had that something extra to cut open what was really good goal line defence by Huddersfield and then Hudds hit them on the counter with 2 soft tries and 1 well worked try to make it about 16-0 at half time. Leigh completley changed their team in the second half and Hudds ran away with it a bit winning by around 30 points or so.

Things that stood out - Leigh look to be lacking that player or two who could break down a good defence but do play some good rugby and should be safe with how poor we expect Warrington to be giving them the chance to build. For Huddersfield they have a real star on their hands in Molly Iceton who bagged another 3 tries today. I also expect Amelia Brown to be less effective at fullback and it will be interesting to see how long that lasts and how long she is happy for Iceton to be getting the glory that she is used to. Overall a pretty decent hit out for both teams who were able to give plenty of their squad players big minutes. Just a final point Louis Naidole picked up an ankle/foot injury up in the first 20 minutes and ended up playing the full 80 minutes with heavy strapping and a distinct limp. Ive no idea in the sense in that with the season just around the corner and plenty of subs. Saying that she was still one of hudds best players despite playing on 1 leg and Leigh struggled to handle her.

Interesting but I actually like Amelia at fullback because it keeps her in the game, out on the wing I felt she was a bit wasted.

I do agree that Mollie Iceton looks a good prospect and can’t wait to see her development.

Does anyone know if Ellie Oldroyd is still at the Giants and what about Ana DA Silva ?

I don't know I'm not involved at the giants.

To me Amelia looked a bit lost, which I suppose can be expected as its a new position for her, she looked very suspect under a couple of high balls, not getting near either, early in the game and Im surprised Leigh didn't keep peppering her. She did have one good moment backing up a Naidole break from half way and getting the ball about 20m out looked a certain try but some amazing scrambling defence brought her down a yard short.

Not heard anything about Ana Da Silva and it looks like she was not given a squad number although the Giants did have some numbers missing at their shirt presentation. I think one new player in the squad, Maddie Hutchison, could get a few SL appearences under her belt this season. Shes a tackling machine and really its only attitude that will hold her back with temper flare ups a big problem for her in the juniors. If she can channel that right she has the potential to be a very good SL player.

Ive said a couple of times that I thought Huddersfield may struggle this season but on that showing they could be comfortable in 5th/6th with Barrow without threatening the top 4. Leigh looked okay and moved the ball around well but lacked someone with any real spark to break down the Huddersfield defence.

I saw some pics of Mollie Iceton from the game and looks to have filled out a bit which should make her hard to handle for opposition teams and she is the type of athletic youngster that I would like to see put on a central contract.
