You beat the first/second worst team in superleague well done.

I presumed everyone would realise my first line wasn’t serious and the post in general was tongue in cheek.

Obviously I was wrong.

OK Rob I will bite, I will see your rainy Lancashire and raise you Tony Smith's "It is hard attracting player's to Hull they simply fo not want to live here"

Tony Smith was effectively shown the door by both Hull clubs so he’s hardly going to resist the chance of sticking the boot in.

It’s was a disappointing comment to make, I thought he had a bit more class than that.

I didn't interpret it as a dig at Hull at all - more a case of Hull being quite a way from areas like Leeds or Manchester where there will be far more antipodean players living, and it ultimately it being harder to get players to come to Hull when there are a lot of clubs within a stone's throw of Leeds or Manchester.

Agreed. The other presenters acknowledged it too. Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire are easier sells to players as Hull is a bit more out on a limb, and frankly it isn't as attractive. It's not a dig it's fact borne out by most relevant metrics like house prices etc.

To succeed as a club you need to know your own weaknesses.
