Thorough deserved lead from Slovakia. Being aggressive and direct when they have the ball and getting the chances as a result.

England making nice shapes at walking pace.

One of the biggest contrast with last night's game, is how often Germany and Denmark ran with the ball.

Are we told we're not allowed to?

The players will be following instructions - they're good enough to do that, at least. So the walking pace and sideways approach will be what they've been asked to do.

I genuinely can't believe what I've seen.

300 minutes of dross and clear evidence the system isn't working only to try it again and expect a different scenario.

It is not coming home.

England's actual current European champions play Ireland a week on Friday. And they, like the men, are stuck in something of a dull performance rut albeit with a better outcome last time out.

That shot from Declan Rice has probably convinced Southgate that the plan is working. Can't believe we've played this bad for over 80 minutes with only one substitution being made and that was one that was enforced due to injury.

What an absolute world class finish from Bellingham! England are going to stink out the tournament all the way to the final 🤣 It's not getting any better than this but we're going to win the whole thing.

I've reported you to the mods, this kind of positivity is just unforgivable on this forum! 👎

(Joking mate, love the positivity really! 😃)

England still resort to knocking it around the back four and defend a lead. That tactic will come back to haunt them at some point. Our players aren’t good enough to retain possession by playing like that.

It could be.

We're not getting past Switzerland.

Thing is with football, there's so much randomness. England could play like they have for the previous 4 games, Switzerland could dominate the game running rings round the opposition as they did against Italy, and England could just get a flukey goal and still win.

Switzerland drew with an absolutely abysmal Scotland side. It's not like they are guaranteed to be at the top of their game. I can't see anything but another game like the one we've just seen where England somehow win despite not really deserving too purely through the quality of one or two individuals in moments.

I get that. I see enough games where that is true. But, being as objective as possible, Switzerland's most recent game saw them play an assured, movement-based game that England, from their performances so far, look like they would struggle to contain.

Let's dream ... until Spain score inside the opening minute.

Certainly agree that Switzerland will start as strong favourites.
