Thought this deserved a thread. Ryan Hall becomes the all time Super League top try scorer.

He has been a great winger at both club and international level and a great servant to the game. I certainly think for a few years, when he first started playing for England, that he was the best winger in the world:

An exceptional player and athlete. Not many people can be as strong/big as him and lightning quick at the same time. Still is even at 36.

While they weren't SL tries I always loved the 2 tries he scored for England against the Aussies at Wembley in 2011, great finishes.

I remember him being smashed into touch by the Oz Fullback

1. Try given.

2. Fullback goes off injured.

Wow! Well Done Mr Hall.

I went to that game, although I don't remember anything about it except that we lost. Again. Anyway, here's one of the tries:

did he spend 2 years down under without a single try for the roosters? imagine how many SL tries he would have under his belt by now if he had stayed  in SL during that period of his career

cant believe we ever moaned about eddie and stevo - they had more excitement and infectious  enthusiasm in them than any modern day tv commentator

My favourite Rob Burrow moment was, rather than the famous try in the 2011 Grand Final, probably his assist that set Hall up in the same game. Consequently that try has to be up there for me amongst all the ones Hall has scored. There was a beauty in a World Club game at Headingley and that one at Wembley vs Australia which took out Billy Slater was special too.

However the final try of the 2015 Regular Season at Huddersfield which led to those helicopter shenanigans remains The One for me.

On the international scene though who could forget that last minute try at AAMI Park in 2014 that knocked Australia out and took England to the final?

What makes that even more special is that at the time, if he hit the corner flag, he was in touch

This was one of those he mention after the game on Friday when asked which of his tries he thought were special

Yep. The margin for error nowadays is a big difference from when he was on top

He's certainly one of the game's great finishers.  However I've always believed that true wingers can get the ball in their own ten and pop it down under the sticks at the other end I don't believe Ryan is one of those.  However I'd never dislike the guy because I think he's a role model for any player and a credit to the game.

The game has changed to be fair. Wingers need to be strong ball carriers coming out of their own half these days, Hall id still one of the best in the game at this.

Will this do?

Admittedly he is a bit older now, and using his skills differently.

I always admire players who can adapt their game as their body changes - players like Leroy Cudjoe and Ben Westwood come to mind. Hall is in a similar sort of category; he has evolved as a player and remained effective, and does vast amounts of work for his team.

I've probably never seen a player who is so hard to push into touch. It'd be like trying to derail a train with your shoulder.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Of course, players need to be judged from their own era but I still find the implication that Rugby League only stsrted in 1996 quite irksome.

OK. Any thoughts on Ryan Hall?

Tbh given the changes in rules and the way the game is played means it is a stretch to compare a 2025 player with a 1996 player, I wouldn't get too irked about it. But it's factually correct to say Hall is SL's top tryscorer.

I think he'll struggle to overtake Brian Bevan.

19th on the all time list isn't too shabby after 130 of history either. Also, Englands top try scorer, not too sure where he'd rank including tries for England (or Wales) and Great Britain, but I'd guess top 10, maybe top 5

Has been, and still is a credit to the game.

The Leeds press release provides a list of all time British try-scorers as well.

Indeed it does -

Hopefully he won't get injured before calling it quits. If so he should overtake Newlove and Neil Fox which would put him 17th on the all time list.

Ike Southward and Barney Hudson are within reach if the increased try scoring rate he's seen since returning to Leeds is maintained which would push him up to 15th.

Bevan wasn't good enough for Leeds anyway.
