Bedford Roughyed Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
Thunder Road Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Following today’s scheduled monthly board meeting the club has stood down Head Coach Ian Watson with immediate effect.
Thunder Road Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Luke Robinson will take charge of the team ahead of the upcoming Betfred Super League game at Leigh on the weekend, neither the club nor Ian will make any further comment.
Wollo Wollo Wayoo Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Surprised he's lasted so long this season. Rowley to Leeds and Watson back to his beloved Salford maybe. This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me. Thunder Road Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I think once the Chairman put out that statement after the Warrington drubbing last week, it set the back drop to what's unfolded today.
Wollo Wollo Wayoo Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Where did it all go wrong Daz? This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me. OMEGA Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Watson can’t have any complaints, he’s had the backing of the board, money, staff, facilities and he inherited a decent squad. His tenure has been marked by strange decisions, none more so than choosing Jake Bibby over Jake Wardle and pushing the best English Centre in the game, a home grown player out of the club. Matty English is another who would run his blood to water, another home grown player whom Watson seems intent on forcing from the club and there are many others, including the Senior twins and Owen Trout. The terrible style of play and unacceptable results throughout his 3 years and an inability to recruit top class players left the club with little choice
Damien Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Seemed to be inevitable the way things had been going
Angelic Cynic Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Another great decision by Ken Davy. I hang on his every word. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/ken-davy-on-strongest-huddersfield-giants-squad-successful-super-league-stint-and-early-img-impressions-3976933 No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.
Human Punk Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Completely agree. The number of decent players who could have contributed to a positive season, but who have been allowed to leave, is baffling.
Hammerless Nail Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 It'll be interesting to see what happens next. When he left Salford, there were a few players who were keen to follow him. One even threatened to return to Australia if he wasn't allowed to go, despite having signed a contract extension a month or so before. If those players do the same again and follow him to his next top coaching role, Salford Schools Under 12s Touch Rugby Taster Sessions will have a pretty impressive array of talent at their disposal.
Thunder Road Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 What Jake Connor will turn up on Saturday when they play us I wonder.? If Ian Watson struggled to cope him I'm not confident that Robinson will fare much better..And it will all be played out in 4k on sky sports....
Barry Badrinath Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 From thr outside theres been a weird scattergun approach to signings, at one point it seemed like they had signed 5/6 outside backs, but then let the senior boys and wardle go, leutele walked. At the same time a had too many spine players last year, connor tui, fages, russell. All been a mish mash. I'm really not sure why English has been sent on loan, and to cas of all places, he's a decent prop

We had a good 2022 but the recruitment and retention since then has been pretty poor to be honest, we have never replaced any of the players that have left with better or even equal quality, some of the signings have been awful and/or baffling at times. I think the club desperately wanted it to work out for him, i did too but alas it hasn't and probably was never going to. I wish him well, i've had a fair bit of personal involvement with him over the years, he's a lovely guy and an absolute RL nut but unfortunately it hasn't worked out, we had no choice really, the fanbase was shrinking dramatically and the ones who were becoming toxic towards the club. 500 off 5,000, please sign https://www.change.org/StadiumforTheGiants
