Muzza

Hope this isn’t true. Muzza is a top fella and a good coach. Yes things may have not gone to plan on the pitch this season but the injuries and the adversity the team has gone through it is as no surprise.

League Express and other papers reporting this news. Hope we hear something from the club as we as supporters should not be hearing this news through third parties.

Why do you hope Jontys is not coming, he would be a great replacement for Muzza.

Jontys a top bloke and players respect him also. He also was a very good player and assistant coach for us. So why you hope he isn't joining us is beyond me.

Suprising what a couple off good performances do it was only a couple weeks ago most people on here were wanting muzza out now we've won a few on the trot they'd rather him stay over jonty which is bizarre the teams we have beat we should be beating them every day off the week with the squad we have to be fair jonty is a top coach and hopefully the rumours are right and he joins town next season because he could really be the next step this club needs

I haven’t changed my tune. I would’ve kept Muz if this came about a month ago.

Nothing against Jonty at all, he’s a great bloke and a good coach. If he is the next coach of town I wish him all the best and I’m sure he would do a great job. I just don’t understand why we would let Muz go.

Have you looked at our league position? And the way we've played this season?

With the squad we've built we should be doing a lot better than we are (I know injuries have played a part)

A nice guy coach doesn't mean a winning coach.

Jonty has done a great job at Whitehaven and has kept them in that league for a few years now with everything going on there that's a great achievement in my eyes, if was to come to Town then I would be more than happy about it.

So are you telling me that Jonty or any other coach could’ve done a better job than Muz has done this season with the injuries he has faced? We have barely been able to put the same team on the pitch two games running.

All this comes down to one person trying to control anything and everything in the club and the rest of the board are that far up his ###### they can’t see daylight.

Sport is a results based business. How nice of a bloke someone is shouldn’t come into it. You’re either getting results or you’re not. If you’re not then you’re gone - harsh but true.

A disastrous season on the field, hopefully the last 3 wins aren't masking that and we keep it going but what he's produce hasn't been good enough and on several occasions we've been shocking. I don't include the first Oldham and Keighley games as we were decimated with injuries. I don't make excuses for coaches cos I've seen so many bad ones despite them being nice blokes with good pedigrees. Time to move on hopefully with an ex-Town player who's done I good job in a higher league. Good luck to Muzza but I wouldn't be happy if I was a Keighley fan.

Some of the results and performances are not what we and I’m sure Muzz would’ve expected. It’s not been a great season on the field.

The way this situation seems to have been dealt with is what has upset not only me but many other town fans I have spoken to. I think the club need to release some kind of statement to clear all this up.

They released a statement saying they weren't commenting on a rumour. That's all it is at the moment..a rumour.

Jonty has a team who are full of injuries and don't know if they're getting paid from one week to the next. They've beat some good teams this year and ran quite a lot close. So yeah I would say jonty would do a better job than our coach. Has for Gary, I think he's doing a very good job. If jonty is coming to us because Gary is there well even better.

Sports fans in general are very fickle because of the emotions invested with being a fan.

Like others have already said Muzza is a really nice bloke who everyone seems to like, but it is a results based occupation he is in. This season I thought we would be pushing the top two, but with a mixture of injuries, star players absconding taking work opportunities half way around the world and some very ordinary performances,  we are closer to the bottom of the table than the top.

Some of it like the injuries is out of the coaches hands, but some of the stuff I just cant get my head around. Some games this season we were out enthused by the opposition, and for me that just isn't acceptable. If the players put the effort in and get beat then you take it on the chin, but it's the coaches job to make sure the players on the park are prepared tactically, physically & mentally to win the game. The other stuff I don't agree with is playing players out of position when there is no need to. Henson at loose forward is just unfathomable. It takes away the threat of our best hooker and uses him to try and smash balls in. Our defensive line speed and goal line defense is something else we seem to be among the worst in the league at when it is a coachable fix. Why do we move two yard up then wait? It has to be a tactical decision that no successful team employs.

Who knows what is around the corner with the head coach, but the rugby league press is usually pretty accurate. If Muzza stayed I wouldn't be classing him the same as a Dave Rotherham and throwing myself in the Derwent. But then again I wouldn't be upset if he were to leave as I don't think if we want to progress he is the man to take us forward.  The Jambos at work all want to keep Jonty and say the likes of Burns, Bradley would leave town if he were to come back home. I don't think it's a secret it's his last season at the wreck, and I'd love it if he gives it a shot at Town but it has to be for at least 2 years. The crack is that he wants to spend more time with his family so it's pointless him coming for a season to tick a box.

It will no doubt all come out soon. UTT

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

Murray had to go at the end of the season. Either of his own choosing or sacked. The squad we have we should be sat in behind keighley and Oldham and we're miles off at present and that stops at the coach. Simply not good enough I'm afraid
