What a great game that was. Best £12 I’ve spent all week. Both sets of players gave it their all on a really hot day. It could have gone either way right until the end. It was played in a great spirit with only one sin binning, hard but fair from both teams. On that showing Hornets will be giving the play offs a really good go. Lewis Else was my M O M but you can’t take it away from the lad who scored two tries. Onward Hornets Onward.

No reason why we cant go on from here to accompany Oldham into the championship. But we desperately need to finish above Workington, who had a good win at Hunslet today. With our record up there we need to avoid having to go to our ‘graveyard’ in the play offs.

From following the game via social media, a really tough loss in the final 10mins.  (The video of their winning try is on Oldham’s ‘X’ twitter…..where it indicates also that the two badly injured Oldham players are ‘ok’).  Great to see the ground with two full sections…..attendance?
Now to secure 3rd position for the play-offs. Hunslet’s last 2 games are away at Keighley and Midlands.  Worky has to go to Oldham for their last league game; they should win the others.  Keighley has 3 homers inc Oldham & Hunslet.

Good to see the Oldham players are ok. The first one was down a long while and looked in a really bad way when he came off. It was a pretty hard game, there’ll be some sore bodies tomorrow.

Fantastic advert for League 1 & the best derby I can remember in years. Both sides gave their all in unforgiving conditions with the intensity at the end just as fierce as at the start. Rochdale should fear no-one in the playoffs. Good luck for the rest of the season & hopefully see you in the Championship but it’s a tall order winning the League 1 playoffs & then having to beat the 12th placed Championship team.

Great game today and there have been a lot of great contests in league 1 this year. A credit to everyone involved.

Totally agree a brilliant game, great respect between the two teams. So glad that the injured Oldham lads are ok.

Think this is the best Rochdale team I've seen for a long time. You might have had better teams on paper in the past but as a squad that was a quality performance. If you can keep your key players fit can't see why you won't beat Keighley in the play offs

Hopefully attendees will increase through to the league finishing line and play-offs.

The impetus could help us to welcome again Oldham next season!

I would image they will give the championship team home advantage. Very unfair but sadly that’s how they operate.

its exciting to be heading towards the play offs sat in third and in good form.

This year has exceeded all my expectations as a fan and its great to see the club tying down players on extended contracts and continuing to build.

Its a breath of fresh air to be a Hornets supporter right now and long may it continue.

However this year plays our great strides have been made and I'm looking forward to 2025 already.

When you see videos like the one Whitehaven released yesterday it makes you realise just how lucky we are here in Rochdale to have the prudent and forward thinking leadership we have.

second placed team not in play offs? I thought it was top promoted automatically and 2 to 6 in play offs.

According to RL.com Top team are promoted automatically. Teams 2 to 6 play off with the play off winner playing 12th place team in championship in the hundred pound game for a place in the championship. ( teams finishing 13 and 14relegated) but not clear the format of the league 1 play off. Given there are 5 teams in the play off it will have to be somewhat covoluted.

Weekend of Saturday 14/Sunday 15 September – Qualifying play-off i.e. 3rd v 4th  and Elimination play-off i.e. 5th vs 6th.

Weekend of Saturday 21/Sunday 22 September – Semi-final 1: 2nd vs winner of qualifying play-off (winner goes straight through to the final). Semi-final 2: Loser of qualifying play-off vs winner of elimination play-off.

Sunday 29 September – Preliminary Final: Loser of Semi-final 1 vs winner of Semi-final 2.

Sunday 6 October – League One Promotion Play-off Final, to be played at the home of the finalist which finished highest in the league in the regular season

Sunday 13 October – Championship Promotion Play-off: 12th in Championship vs winner of League 1 Promotion Final.

We need people to shout about the current improvements and good vibe around the club, and we need numbers through the gate for the next two home games and play offs. The town needs to get behind the club now. Other teams will be looking at our players and deals will  be tabled to tempt them away. Its a critical period for Hornets lets hope the town responds.

This Hornets team are the best I’ve seen for many a season and all play for each other. They deserve better support and I really hope it happens. It may take promotion for this to happen.
