Clement Martin stays in RL

Recommended Posts

Despite signing for Montpellier RU, Catalans have managed to sway him with a contract to stay in league. Brilliant news as he’s some talent as our French posters will tell you.

Turned up incredibly well for Lezignan last season.

What position/how old is he?

A winger/centre, aged 19.

Great news for French RL. France U19s are on a par with England and I’d like to see Catalans and Toulouse sign as many of these as possible

The two French clubs can't save every talented youngster from perdition, just like the NZ Warriors couldn't do the same for New Zealanders. The more SL clubs French players sign for, the better.

I agree that more French players need to be signed by SL clubs but I think the U19s can’t be signed by an English club due to not being in the EU

He started on the wing then went to centre, for the moment he's more of a winger, he's not started filling out yet, i think he'll start as a winger and finish up centre or second row in a few years, still very raw. The full time environment will help him progress and is exactly what he needed,

Incredible quick and agile player. Reminds me of Tom Johnstone with the way he runs. Could be his long term replacement too.

The two young lads looks like some special - played up in the French  U19 side that beat the England side at Warrington a few months back. Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet, the middle number of the lad has his mothers name which could be from Japan or other local country

He's got a lot of work to do, technically and size wise but he could do very well if he continues to work hard,

Aispuro is probably a Basque surname, and Guillermo is Spanish rather than the French Guillaume, so  he likely to be of partial Spanish heritage.

In the changing room when his parents gave the jumpers to their lad the woman looked she was in from the Far East
