I think key would make a great 2nd row. He's fit as a fiddle and got pace to burn when he gets a gap.

He started there when he first signed but got moved to prop, good player who can play either. Let's hope Caine has recharged his batteries , we've really missed him.

Please don't anybody make excuses for him. Struggling to make the playoffs in league 1 , that's utter dross !

We were supposed to be top 4, we signed Sammut and brought in 3 overseas players , he's been given the tools and botched the job like a cowboy builder.

The only good side is that we don't owe the HMRC  and our players.

Drove Marwood out, never gave Croston a chance, or Charlton. Terrible coach

Dreadful coach, awful season, shown glimpses what we can do in the wind at Hunslet and the home wins vs Rochdale but that's not good enough in this league, not even close. We should have been pushing Oldham and keighley with the players at the club, instead we're a basement team. Roll on next season with a competent man in charge, no idea what keighley are thinking, but hey he's a good bloke

the futures bright, the futures blue and white

No idea why anyone wants Murray to stat going on results and displays. I get he's a nice guy, but no way should we have had as poor a season as this, we've always had good enough 18 in the match day squad.

I think you should speak to the bloke. He's gone because he dosent want to be away from his family for the sake of 20 minutes per week, he'd still be here if he was getting game time.

Where  do you get the 20 minutes from ! It's alot less than that .

Midlands Hurricanes 34 vs 22 Workington Town

Hurricanes storm past tired Town.

Midlands Hurricanes swept aside a tired looking Town side who never really got going during the game.

Workington Town travelled to the West Midlands to try and exact revenge on Mark Dunnings Midlands Hurricanes following a reverse at the Fibrus Community Stadium.

It was announced by the club in midweek that Pone Tongia was release by the club on compassionate grounds and we would all like to join the club and the fans in wishing Tongia well.

Following a disciplinary by the RFL both Jordan Burns and Bradley Brennan were cleared of any wrongdoing however due to injuries again Town were light on the forward front with Jake Bradley and Liam McNicholas missing.

There was a much awaited debut for Millom based powerhouse Kian McPherson who started the game on the bench for Town (team inserted below).

Into the game Town knew they’d only realistically make fifth place baring a minor miracle in winning all three remaining games (one of which is Oldham away).

The game itself started in sweltering temperatures in Birmingham as the mini heatwave trapped the sides.

In a game of huge stakes Town were still on the bus as the Hurricanes dominated throughout in a game of poor defences rather than excelling attacking flare.

A story of Town’s season has been their lack of discipline in key moments and when Jordan Burns was adjudged to have taken Callum McClelland high. From the penalty the Midlands walked through the Town defence for the games opening try on 5 minutes.

The game then went set for set as Town looked to get back into the game the Midlands forced a one on one strip and forced a kick on the last and a knock on from Billy Southward, this was collected for 12-0.

Town did hit back on 25 minutes when Joe Hartley crashed over the line to give Town a lifeline at 12-6.

On 36 minutes Town gave away a penalty for a high tackle again this was compounded when a beautiful reverse kick from Sweating was collected and dotted down for 18-6.

The half ended when Tommy Brierley went high on Danny Barcoe to give a penalty set dead in front of the post for 20-6.

Town looked to come out of the second half with a bit more promise and when Billy Southwards kick caused a knock on and a scrum.

From the base of the scrum quick hands saw Galea go over to boost a Town revival and got the Cumbrian side to within 10 of the home side (20-10). Just when Town were looking to build momentum they fumbled the ball coming out of a yardage set.

They managed to defend that set however on the next they were under the posts in the game changing moment as Jason Bass scored outwide with Sweating continued success on the boot for 26-10, this was improved by a penalty for a late shot in the next set for 28-10.

Town weren’t to be totally outdone and on on 65 minutes a slick move from Stephenson and Hartley sent the latter over for a brace in an afternoon of good form for the winger. This reduced the gap to 28-16 and when Matty Henson darted over 3 minutes later Town were smelling an unlikely comeback at 28-22 following a trademark scoot.

This however much like Towns season was short lived when more fragile defence was exposed as Tom Wilkinson collected the ball and literally fell over the line. The touchline conversion sailing through to end a sorry situation for Town.

After the game we caught up with Town Chairman Graeme Peers who said: he would like to thank all the fans for their efforts this season travelling to and down the road for the players.

He encouraged all the Town fans to get down to the Fibrus Community Stadium on Bank Holiday Sunday for the clubs double header with Newcastle Thunder and Barrow Ladies.

Muzza was given those players and did not have any influence in signing any of these. Of the 4 only Zafrin has proved to be a good signing every local player has improved under muzza’s  coaching  get teal

I'd bite at the dig there but have just posted about how beating you home and away shows how far we have improved since Coventry Bears day. You have to appreciate how much better we are with Mark Dunning in charge and the players he has brought in that really weren't attracted to us before.

We are on a roll then and you seem to be in a slump as is confirmed by what has been written above.

Big thanks to all who made the trip down today. Much appreciated while we try to convince the Birmingham population of how good our game is.

Good luck with expanding the game, nobody has really succeeded before so hope you do. How many locals do you have? I take it they aren't all on loan from Sheffield 😀

Cheers.

You're right, I know, but it's always worth trying given how good this game is.

The core of our support is people like myself who are exiled Northerners and watched RL in our earlier years (York for me ). Then there are those who are not Northerners but found RL from Sky TV and are excited that they now have a team in their backyard.

We aren't getting enough mate but we'd like to think that will improve if we can show they'd be seeing a winning team in an exciting league.
