Match Thread: Championship Round 20, Bradford Bulls v Featherstone Rovers, Sunday 18th August 2024

Recommended Posts

A slightly more upbeat feel to the club after a couple of hard-fought wins. There's still not much fluency in attack but there has been spirit in spades the last 2 games, especially at Widnes.

It gets trickier still over the next 2 games, starting at Bradford, who beat us comfortably at the Millennium Stadium earlier this year and seem to be getting a lot of their injured players back now.

We should welcome Gaz Gale back after his 4-game ban, and Ford mentioned that Connor Wynne could be available too, but he didn't mention Aekins so perhaps his injury isn't a short-term one.

Harry Bowes is suspended - Patton is too for one more game - so Jones after filling in at centre last week looks set to revert to 9.

Can't see us getting many points on the narrow Odsal pitch on our recent form so it's going to need another heroic defensive effort if we are to continue the winning run.

Before the Batley game I said 1 win from the next 4 tough games was the minimum but 2 would be a good result so from that POV we're in bonus territory, but I'm sure the players and coach won't see it that way.

We get Patton back after a six match ban,i didn't see it but it must have been a lot worse than Harry Smith for Wigan.Smith lifted the leg and then delivered a forearm to Bentleys face in the game against Leeds and only gets a 3 game ban.As Championship posters have said before our players seem to be treated unfairly compared to SL.

Absolutely, downgrades from E to D ( 3 game ban ) charged with striking . Championship get hammered by review panel every week, totally unfair ! !

Guess what Cr from RFL disciplinary twitter

For clarity, we are aware that the minimum suspension for a Grade E offence is four games. However, a three-match penalty notice means Wigan will have a key player back for their important top-of-the-table clash against Hull KR.

I assume you're aware that's a parody account. 😉

Previous records are taken into account and Patton's isn't good whilst Smith's is much better. Your players are treated exactly the same but probably don't have professional representation, unlike most of those from SL.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Smith has had a yellow card this season which was lucky not to be red.He lifted the leg shoulder high and the attacking player landed on his head and was lucky he didn't damage his neck.Smith clearly lifted Bentleys leg above waist high and the forearm smashed him to the face.I would say on past form Bentley deserved a bit back but his discipline has been much better this season.Agree about the representation but Smith should have been suspended for 5/6 games. The £750 fine is nowt to a player who should be on at least 3k a week.

We knew what was going to happen.  And players do get treated differently.

This Smith fiasco just shows what a bent system this disciplinary is towards our Championship players.?

Is Bussey a dangerous player   NO

WAS IN A "dirty" contact NO,    so why the ban. It stinks.

If they didn't commit the offence in the first place, they'd not be going to the disciplinary anyway...

Confirmed by the Club

So Bussey was on report , Springer sin binned twice, very poor match officials, intimidated by players and crowd into taking action. Could easily have lost that game !
