What is wrong with Wembley? I would have thought tradition of (too many) years gone by would be a great sell.

Tottenham Stadium looks excellent and very modern. Big capacity and event venue feel but small enough to fill and give a great impression on TV and atmosphere.

Baby steps but this year has been a major step forward.
I know none of us wanted a men’s 10 team world club, but it’s looking increasingly like 26 could be a huge step forward from 08 and 17.

I hope you are right. I will reserve prediction on 26 until this series is completed.

I think the Micky Mouse 10 team, one group of 4 and two of 3 will have negative consequences on how the tournament is perceived, but the profile of international RL in the Pacific has been on a steep incline these past couple of years and with any luck, a Kangaroos series loss will have the Aussie fans licking their lips at a 26 home WC.

Pretty unbelievable that Jones has kept Klokstad at 6:

Pretty shocking call alright. Klokstad did nothing with all the good ball the Kiwis had.

I suppose it may well be easier against Tonga, but I think Nikorima should have been promoted to #6.

Great to see Leo Thompson back though. He's a good impact sub.

Yes I agree, he isn’t at all a 5/8 so they’re pretty much playing with one half, which killed the attack last week. They had no variation and hardly any left side shifts. On the International stage to play with one Halfback is an awful decision. Kodi Nikorima, Kieran Foran and Te Maire Martin would all do a far better job.

I don’t think 10 teams is necessarily too bad. There were far too many blowouts at the World Cup and It’s evident 16 teams is not viable. Perhaps 12 would have been better but 10 isn’t too bad. The way they’ve handled the qualifying has been horrible though. Given it’s a 10 team World Cup they should not have given 8 automatic spots.

Can’t Fatham that Wales won’t be at the World Cup. They are one of rugby league’s 4 original nations, and one of only 7 countries in that world that actually play the sport enough to produce first grade talent and a strong domestic national team. Yet Lebanon who have a very weak domestic activity, an entirely heritage based national team and have only played 2 fixtures outside of a World Cup since 2017 are there instead.

Goes without saying that an experienced six would do a better job that Charnze in the halves.

The Kiwis had five debutants though, so there's an element of experimentation at play. No point calling up Foran, as he's not likely to feature in 2026.

Brown will obviously be back by then, so CNK will be back at FB or centre where he belongs.

They're stronger than Wales.

Yes but not as strong as Fiji. Where do we draw the line? A 4 team world cup?

They came very close to the SF

But also got battered by Australia. My point is where do you draw the line. You have to accept that some results may be foregone conclusions but why Lebanon but not Wales? Lebanon would beat Wales but Wales would beat Serbia.

And the problem is?

Defeats the purpose of International sport. Hardly anyone in Lebanon play rugby league nor no it exists, they should not be competing on the world stage over a nation were rugby league exists.
