Sheffield Eagles played Rochdale Hornets at Owlerton Stadium 40 years ago today.

The Heritage project linked above has done some great work converting matches from VHS to digital, collecting stories and building a history of a club that has now reached middle age. The Eagles are a success story of expansion, albeit on the fringes of the heartlands, despite a near-death experience 25 years ago. Here's to many more.
