What shocks me is that apparently James Ford has two friends. He seems like a right buzzkill if his interviews are anything to go by.
Featherstonerovers2000 Posted September 16 Posted September 16 The only problem with sacking ford is the players signed on for next year was all signed by ford so a new coach would have to come in and work with the players ford has signed for 2025

It works one or two ways players enjoy a change and maybe new opportunities but on the other hand players think they might not be liked my the new coach and if they’ve been promised starting number or starting positions by the old coach there loyalty is with the old coach. Prime example last season the players loved and respected longy but when he was sacked and fordy was appointed is caused a stir with players like Elijah Taylor who even came out and said it was the wrong decision by the club and at strange time in the season

I would add to that - the total lack of intensity, urgency and desire from the team which seems to be at its most apparent right after Fords pep talk at the start and after half time.
sentoffagain2 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Why would we need any full time players next season with no chance of SL under IMG.All we need to do is steer clear of relegation and getting into the play offs would be an achievement. With gates under 1300 the wage budget will be less than recent years.I was going to make this my last season as a member but will still go to some games. At least when the team don't put the effort in i have a choice about attending the next home game. But if Ford is still coach i think i will call it a day.
Rovers fev Posted September 17 Author Posted September 17 I think next season we will be more competitive but still only be around the 4-8 range in terms of a finish depending on injury’s, we’ve not had a settled squad and have turned over a large number of players and brought in either very experienced or very inexperienced there was no middle ground, get a few more good signings under our belts and a solid pre season with a halves pairing that will be able to work together(which Patton and Reynolds do not)and we will be fine there’s only so much Ford can do with a certain half back who doesn’t want to be at the club and it’s showing

Unless the club get a new coach, I can’t see many fans renewing season tickets etc. His only hope is by someone how getting a win against York, otherwise failure to reach the playoffs, should mean that he doesn’t get a new contract.
Featherstonerovers2000 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Lacans and Reynolds for 6 and 7 for me Lacans plays the game with passion and enthusiasm and as a fan that’s all u can ask for 3
Phil Briscoe Posted September 17 Posted September 17 You’d have to say that with the squad in place, not getting into the play offs represents failure. 3

When Ford was Wakey's attack coach under Applegarth they lost 14 games on the trot and only scored 15 tries. That is a fair reflection of his coaching skills. 1

I can tell you 1000 percent james ford wasn’t attacking coach at Wakefield. I played under applegarth (mash) At Wakefield academy / scholarship and he always took attacking drills and often leaving defensive drill to are assistant coach at the time Jamie field (who is currently under 16s head coach at Wakefield

I would probably have to say ford may have been the one to look at oppositions and break them down but no way he let him coach that and why would you we all seen fords rugby (smash front door down style ) 1
Eternal Rover Posted September 17 Posted September 17 We're in the situation now where fans are staying away from the games under Ford. For the club that's not sustainable, whether Handley likes him or not. The close season is going to provide an insight into Handley's thinking. Ford has to go, it's as simple as that, we can't stomach any more of his tactics and on a wider note the club cannot endure the dwindling gate numbers for a prolonged period. 1
POR Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) Ford left York and was appointed assistant coach to Applegarth, October 2022 At the time he said “He compliments me really well in terms of our strengths and I think he’ll be a great addition to the group. He’s a real technical coach, good at detailing, speaks well in front of the group and is a real thinker of the game. But he threw teddy out of cot when he found out Ford was coming to us as Director of Rugby in 24 so got rid Edited September 17 by POR
