My concern for the Broncos kits is the inconsistency of the logo. I get they've wanted to go retro, but I kind of feel it should have been a case of change both or neither. If you're going to change one, just make minor alterations do you can still see a connection (like Man Utd having just the devil on their way kit).

I'm sure someone will explain to me why I'm wrong, but it just feels too much like a shirt literally from the past rather than a tribute to the past.

Other than that, smashing kit.

Retro logos are currently trendy in football.......... The new Leeds Utd yellow kit with a smiley badge is their highest selling kit of all time.

London might just be doing something similar.........or testing the water to move back to the older logo.

They had a bit more success with that old logo and the current badge with that grey gradient in the background is pretty awful.

Just found this on a freelance design blog

It's better than anything the club have come up with (isn't that always the case)

Some shockers there

It's a mixed bag.....you wouldn't have the same illustrator design every team in a comp and his illustrative style suits some teams a lot better than others. The Warrington & Catalan designs are much nicer than what they have now IMO.

Some of the 'animal' based designs are a little generic but compared to what already exists and is being used especially in the UK I wouldn't describe any of the designs as 'shockers'.

It's a nice illustration but looks a bit like a cartoon logo for a bank or like a police badge.........defo one of the weaker ones in the collection.

However the actual Sheffield Eagles logo is awful and looks like is was created by an amateur in word with a clip art eagle.

Taste is subjective........however some of the logos kicking about in pro Rugby League don't look like they've been created by a professional designer. The 'shocking' eagles badge above may not be to your taste but it looks professional.

Most, if not all of his RL related logos were done some years ago.

It's simple, classy and easily identifiable IMO. Not sure what else you can do with their team name other than combine a feather and a stone!

I agree its subjective but personally dont agree with your last point at all, I dont think the designed eagles badge looks professional at all, I tihnk it 100% looks like a comedy police badge and just reminds me of the Judge Dredd badge to be honest.

I'd prefer keeping the old eagles badge and, as I said, not a fan of the new one but its still better than the Dredd one.

It's nice, but I think simplicity is what they're going for these days.

Yes, simplicity works better on mobile devices which is where most people consume communications these days. That's driven a lot of logo development in the last decade, resulting (some say) in a dangerous loss of differentiation.

There's a huge number of football teams with very similar round logos now for this reason.....

The current Fev logo exists because they wanted a version of the Featherstone coat of arms simple enough to put on a pen.   Then after I created the 1921 logo for this purpose (pens, pin badges etc) they used it on a kit (without telling me), then realised that the badge doesn't actually say Featherstone Rovers anywhere which resulted in the logo that we have now.

GidBC6KXQAELYoZ?format=jpg&name=4096x409

When I first started helping the club out around 15 years ago the logo they used for marketing was a jpeg of a fuzzy photo of the town coat of arms.

Fev have only ever really used the town coat of arms (apart from a pirate for a couple of years) so it would be something with a Knight's helmet, Feathers and crossed Axes.

I have absolutely no idea where the horse came from.. its a real shame ChatGPT doesnt explain it better!

while typing this I went back to ChatGPT and asked for why it had done what it did and this is what it said...

Sure! Here’s the thought process behind the Featherstone Rovers Rugby League logo design:

1. Theme & Identity

Featherstone Rovers is a historic rugby league club known for its resilience, strength, and deep-rooted community spirit. The logo needed to reflect these values while maintaining a modern and professional look.

2. Symbolism & Elements

  • Shield Emblem – The shield represents tradition, protection, and strength. Many sports teams use shields in their logos to convey a sense of battle and legacy.
  • Rugby Ball at the Center – This immediately signifies that the team is part of the rugby league world, reinforcing its identity.
  • Horse or Warrior Figure – The imagery of a horse or warrior connects with the “Rovers” name, symbolizing movement, endurance, and fighting spirit—qualities associated with the club.

3. Color Scheme

  • Blue & White – These are Featherstone Rovers' traditional colors, representing loyalty, unity, and strength.
  • Black Accents – Adding black enhances the contrast and gives the logo a more powerful and modern look.

4. Typography

  • A strong, sporty font was chosen to create a bold presence.
  • The text is clear, modern, and dynamic, reflecting the team's competitive nature.

5. Modern Yet Timeless

The design takes inspiration from classic rugby league badges but refines it with a modern aesthetic, ensuring it remains relevant and recognizable.

Would you like any tweaks to better match the club’s identity?

What happens if you tell ChatGP that "Rovers" signifies nomadic origins?
