Annesley was on the latest episode of James Graham's podcast.

The first 40 minutes was focused on these sorts of high contact and make for fascinating listening. One thing I like is about the Bunker only coming in for an incident that gets put On Report.

I just can't see Burgess' suggestion of mandatory HIA and standing players down being taken up. The RFL are being sued by ex-players for the impact of their head injuries, it would be a massive call to bring something in that can be seen as discouraging players from having head knocks looked at.

I'd prefer to see the video ref scrapped altogether, but again, can't see that happening given how many high tackles are being missed on the field.

I'd look at a system where VR reviews tackles that have been penalised, but complement that with an official review to challenge a decision or non-decision. But if it's only a glancing blow, not particularly forceful, then you lose your review. But you keep it if is a genuine foul.

I think even that is harsh on the fouled player. We see it in boxing sometimes we’re a glancing blow that doesn’t look like it’s connected properly can finish a fight. If you get caught in the right place it’s very difficult for others to say whether it’s hurt you or not.

That's true. I was mainly thinking from a view of giving the option to challenge things that have been missed, but avoiding a review every other tackle, rather than any criticism of fouled players.
