It's a shame these matches couldn't be packaged up for Sky or another main broadcaster (like the old finals day was sort of), but I'm glad the Sportsman are picking them up and hope all clubs really push the accessibility on their marketing channels.

This is great to see.

I have really enjoyed the sportsman's coverage of games this season, knowledgeable commentary and its great to see some teams and grounds outside the superleague.

Whoever picks their games to show in the challenge cup really has a talent, almost every game they showed was a real 50/50 battle.

Just a shame their coverage is so sporadic, it seems months since they last showed a game

Yes, it was a good game and the camera work, replays etc. are excellent on what I assume is a relatively limited budget. Commentary excellent - Hendo always a very astute observer of the game.

Sportsman backed by Fred Done is a great advert for the lower divisions other broadcasters won't touch because there is nowt in it for them.Although a Man United  supporter Fred comes from close to Salford and i am sure Rugby League is in his veins. His second betting shop was in Swinton not far from Station Road. And he often presents trophy's and medals on Betfred sponsored events. The Sportsman do Rugby League well.

It is nice for me to be able to watch the playoffs for free on youtube, but is it good for the clubs involved for their games to be given away for free, and how do the sportsman make any money off showing them, I don't get it?

It's good that these games are on YouTube foc. The clubs ( marketing, players etc )can use their social media skills, capabilities and reach to encourage current fans,  returning fans, lapsed fans, players "friends" and YouTube surfers to watch and to share.

Yeah as I said, good for people who want to watch for free, but I don't see any business sense in the setup.

Driving people to his betting business?

That connection is lost on many. If Betfred didn't sponsor  the competitions, The Sportsman wouldn't be covering them.

I think Fred Done has stepped down as a director of the Sportsman, although presumably he still owns it?
