Hopie Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Its unlikely given the table as it stands, but if results go a certain way, Catalans could be playing for a place in the playoffs on Saturday, and it come down to points difference. Sporting integrity should trump TV schedules, and there are only two teams who know their league position before the final round, and they play each other.

If KR rested players and lost there’s a good chance Wire would take 3rd place off them. Fair point - I'd completely overlooked that possibility!
JohnM Posted September 16 Posted September 16 https://wiganwarriors.com/blog/2024/09/13/r27-fixture-amendment/ Refund. So that's ok, then. What about my lost hotel booking?

Saints have a 187 point advantage Leigh have 135 point advantage and are one competition point clear. Even if there's a draw, Catalans will not come down to points difference. They simply need to beat Hull and Saints beat Leigh. You'd need 2 record scores to overturn the Saints points difference.

I said it is unlikely, but what if Leeds and Saints win this Friday?

If you've finished your games but are relying on other results then you haven't done enough in the previous 26 games. If another team can then take advantage then so what. Play better in the previous games and it doesn't matter what anyone else does. League positions are determined by 27 games not 1. Last new RL ground (96): Queensway Stadium - North Wales v South Wales 25/6/17

It's almost like no one from the sport has been in discussion with SKY about this and how to make the final round as big as possible. Don't want to bring IMG up, but I would have thought they would have been all over this? Surely building a good relationship with SKY and creating events with them is one of the reasons they've been brought in. Not sure how much IMG could influence this year or not with the deal etc but they definitely need to have got in and been talking to them where possible becuase this should be a huge weekend that you can market with "stories", even if they do need record scores they are still possible and would be great stories therefore something to really push. The football club thing (brought up by someone else) IIRC is a bit of a red herring as they can block out this weekend for the football team early enough so that the football team isnt given a home tie etc becuase super league fixtures are announced (with the league going on) earlier than football. I seem to recall this being said before when people have mentioned that as possible reasons for internationals etc, if you can get in you dont have to oust the football club or negotiate for the ground for a weekend around the matches, we just need to be more organised (unlike this year, again!).
