Sounds like Manchester was the place of conception I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

turn it in Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Would the giants also benefit from dropping out of super league for a season or 2 allowing them to regroup and rebuild?

Don't know about that, but it's clear that Huddersfield are very lucky to have Ken Davy. It's not just his money, but he truly cares about their future. Whether or not there's anything he can do to engage the Hudds public though... 2

Is it a great location? Seems odd to me to build a new ground 50 yards down from the current one. The people of Huddersfield seem quite allergic to the current location. A more intimate setting will do the Giants wonders compared to now. 4

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Probably, we did before but times are different now and there's no guarantee of a return. Last time we stayed full-time in a part-time league. What negative to the folk of Holmfirth, Batley, Dewbury, Heckmondwike, Cleckheaton, Birstall, Mirfield et al would this bring about?

Rightly or wrongly it will be perceived as yet more funding/ money going into Huddersfield rather than one of the aforementioned times. Due to the make up of Kirklees it’s always been said by the Heavy Woollen towns that the money stops at Cooper Bridge and they end up with scraps. The real problem, without getting too political, is that Kirklees Council doesn’t have a great track record in getting value for money whether that’s in Huddersfield or elsewhere. Their plans seem, at best, half-baked eg Dewsbury Arcade & Market Developments or the failed HD1(?) project.

Purely from reading the article, it seems that the council has earmarked that ground for other development, which was why Ken Davy moved on from it and went looking for other sites previously. Having failed to land on another site it seems he's come back around to this one and is trying to find leverage to get the council to change its mind. 1

Especially when it seems the LA contribution will be around working with the club to approve planning on some wasteland...
