Whilst appreciating the thread title is pubs and beer, it doesn’t warrant another thread so is anyone into their cider and if so which are your drinks of choice?

For me I like the dry Heritage ciders from Taunton which I buy online, and the Whin Hill ciders that you can buy in the car park at Wells-Next-Sea are also superb.

I think we can stretch to cider.

Not a big cider drinker but do like a drop of Henney's now and again.

Cider's one of those things I try every now and then and, when it's decent quality, I ask myself why I don't buy it more often because it is tasty and refreshing on a hot day.

Then I don't buy it again for ages.

Paid a first ever visit to the bar on Lancaster Station the other day, what a great little bar the Tite & Locke is. It is a venture of Lancaster Brewery so obviously has there full range on the bar but also has a few guest casks. Also has wide selection of craft keg beers.

Picked up a rumour whilst in there that Lancaster Brewery are looking to open a bar on Carlisle Station.

The Tite and Locke is a great place if you have time changing trains.

Lancaster Brewery also do a decent Brewery tour (though it's a bit out of town). £15 and includes 6 x 3rds of your choice of what's on at the time. They had about 8 or 9 beers available when I was there.

Carlisle station is overdue a decent bar after '301 miles from London' closed. I believe the planning has been going for a few months now.

I have done the Lancaster Brewery Tour, it was good, and on the plus side it was a nice day so sat outside in the sunshine having a post tour beer.

If you're anything like me, after three or four "refreshing" pints of cider, you start to feel a bit strange and need a sit down somewhere quiet for a while.

On the subject of brewery tours, Wigan Brewhouse (formerly Allgates) are winding down their tours, think they can still be booked by arrangement. They are doing this so that they can use the time made available to open their brewery tap bar more often to the public. They now open Friday 2-7pm, Saturday 1-7pm and Sunday 1-7pm.

Do Lancaster Brewery use the premises of either former brewer from that city, Yates & Jackson and Mitchells?

Coincidentally, as I type this, within reach on my desk are four unopened bottles of beer - one of which is of Mitchell's Centenary Ale (1880-1980) and another is of Y & J's Nut Brown.  For the record the other two are of Traquair House ale (c 45 years old) and of Hall & Woodhouse (Badger Beers) Bicentenary Ale 1777-1977.

Lancaster Brewery is in a modern retail unit on the outskirts of Lancaster. The building previously was a garden centre and the building lends itself quite well to being a brewery.

I've recently been buying Stoke beer and non alcohol drinks. The company is based in Nelson, NZ so I doubt anyone in the UK will ever be seeing it.

I will give my landlord a nudge Ray , my local is about 200 strides from the venue that holds the yearly York beer festival , of course loads of extra custom over the 3 days and he always tries something others might struggle to come up with. Last year he had 6 different CASK not keg barrels shipped from the States , 5 of which were over 6% ABV and one 10.5 jobby. Apart from passing punters all the stewards at the event took their breaks in his pub.

I've only recently got into their beer and currently have their Hazy and Dark but I like Pilsner so that will be my next purchase.

I used to like an English beer Double Diamond but I believe it's not made now.

It is being brewed again by its original brewer Allsopp's. It is only available in their own pubs (mainly in the Midlands - only 1 in London: The Blue Stoops, which opened last year and is yards from one of the capital's best pubs, the wonderful Churchill Arms)

Had a can of Guinness 0.0 in local Spoons at £2.63 but read you can get a draught version now but it's nearly £6 a pints in London how is that as it can not be taxed as no alcohol is in it ?

Companies charge what customers are prepared to pay. If that means a much greater profit margin, all the better.

First through the door at this famous place yesterday.

Featured is a pint of Cathedral Beeches, a pretty traditional English bitter - very enjoyable in the quiet and the sunshine.
