This Grand Final Competition is traditionally in memory of three special forum people

  • George Fairclough (Bourbon Rat) of this forum

George was a lifelong Wigan Fan and a Melbourne Storm fan from their inception. He lived in Melbourne but lived in Wigan until he was a teenager. He married Irene, an Australian and with her raised a family of three boys. He was taken from us far too soon one week after celebrating his 65th birthday. He was a good friend of mine. George, with others, sponsored a Wigan player annually. He never forgot his roots.

  • Richard Glover (Kiwityke) of this forum - New Zealand Warriors and Batley Bulldogs fan. Richard was brought up in Batley where he followed his local team.  He moved to New Zealand as an adult where he married and lived the rest of his life. In the latter years he lived just outside Auckland. He never forgot his roots and continued to follow Batley from afar. He did travel to the UK once a year to visit relatives and friends. While over here he would sponsor a Batley game. In later years he  sponsored the annual Batley v Featherstone Rovers fixture and invited Barney and me to the match as his guests.

Both dear friends and regular contributors, sadly missed.

We remember too all other friends of this forum who have passed away.

Tempus fugit!
It seems like only yesterday that we were starting with our Round 1 tipping competition and now here we are with our blockbusting Grand Final occasion just a few days away.

Everyone is welcome to take part in this competition, whether you've entered before or not this season.
The 2024 season tipping competition has once again been a friendly affair. It has also been one of the most successful with  a lot of regular participants and a high standard of tipping.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our tipping competition this season. Your friendship and company has been much appreciated. Rest assured  it'll be run again for the 2025 season.

So here's to a great Grand Final, and may the best tipster and team win!
Good Luck everyone - there'll be an animated award as usual.

Enjoy your Rugby League,

Wishing you good health and happiness

Graham

Firstly, thanks to Graham once again for all the work he does each week with the competition.

Secondly, again it's thanks to Graham for reminding us  about absent friends who have gone to other rooms.

Storm to win in a low scoring final 0-3 tries.

Good luck everone and until next time may you all stay healthy.

I echo Irish Saint's comments, but it's too early to decide the winning team and number of tries. Will Nelson appeal his ban successfully? Just how bad is The Chin's shoulder? Who will be the ref? (Storm don't perform well historically when Atkins is in charge).

WELL DONE GRAHAM ON YET AGAIN RUNNING THE BEST FORUM NRL TIPPING COMP ON THE NET & I WILL BE BACK AGAIN IN 2025.

Winners - Melbourne Storm

Points - 62

Poll - 6 or 7 Tries

Thanks to Graham again for running the competition this year

One plea for next year is split Round 0 (Las Vegas) from Round 1 as they are too far apart to tip accurately without knowing who is starting or not.

Congratulations also to Jeff Stein, who at worst will tie this tipping competition. From your posts in the past Jeff, I take it that your a fellow London Bronco so It's good to see the Broncos won something this year.😉

Will Penrith avenge their last defeat in a GF by Melbourne in 2020 and make it 4 in a row?

As a Penrith supporter for almost 25 years I reluctantly say no. Melbourne have been the better team this season and deserve to win. Will be at the game.

Think the tries scored will be 5 and the points total 35.

Best of luck to the other tipsters!

Finally special thanks and appreciation to Gratham for the time spent running this competition.

I am really struggling to make up my mind. Penrith's strength in the middles or the Storm's spine? It might cone down to which of Cleary and Munster stays fittest for longer.

Panthers to win, 7 tries in total, 44 points.

Massive appreciation to Graham, as ever.
