But it's the key bit here because, otherwise, some of those who are happy with specific Catalans measures would have to explain why clubs who have never participated in Super League, and so have never been part of any of the value Sky get from showing it, should receive millions (over the years) through Super League's TV deal.

And, of course, they should get that funding. But ...

If we're going to start going down the route of judging what individual clubs bring to the TV deal (essentially, how much Sky TV value relies on certain clubs, or how many Sky subscriptions rely on certain clubs), then we're probably looking at a 6-team league.

If Catalans did a TV deal in France would all SL clubs get a share of the money does anybody know ?

"Catalans" shouldn't be doing a TV deal.

If RLC secure a TV deal in France, then it should be part of the wider distribution pool.

They get central funding and have for 20 years. It's probably 30milion euros plus.

Dave T.

Where is the link to back up your claim or isn't there one?

Are you OK?

It is well known how much money Catalans receive every year from the RFL, as it is the same as every other SL club.

Catalans have always been treated differently, they were given years to prepare for their entry to the UK system, I remember reading they were able to sign players from other French clubs for free at the time, they got direct entry to Super League, and weren't relegated when they finished bottom. They wouldn't exist without Super League so I can see why the owner is very matter of fact about the reduction in central funding. Obviously this was not the agreement at the start, but it wouldn't surprise me to see any agreement was up for regular review. Other overseas teams, Brexit putting extra barriers between the UK and France, the IMG grading system and the drop in money the game has have all made this more likely to happen over the years.

Well where's the link to show that?

Surely that isn't Rocket science is it, or perhaps there isn't a link?

I'm sure there isn't a link to back up you and Dave T claims otherwise you would have have posted.

I mean that isn't how things work. You demand something and everyone rushes to please you.

A quick Google search will help you. This story has been repeated numerous times this year which talks about exactly this (central funding being paid with no return). This website has articles with that detail.

What point are you trying to make then, that Catalans don't get any central funding?

If Catalans get 1/12th of the TV deal then they would be expected to share that money with the rest of the Super League, but if they don't they can't be expected too.

IF in the unlikely event that Toulouse are promoted and not given any TV money, and they negotiate there own TV deal elsewhere they wouldn't be expected to share any of that money.

Getting a TV company to pay in France for rugby league is like getting blood from a stone.

Bein Sport offered (Or paid) 75K a year before.

At best its production costs only with the outside broadcast unit coming from Spain to cut costs (50% less than France)

L,Equipe TV is now covering matches with French commentary from their studios in Paris.
