So, can we bung a few quid at Wigan, to throw the game, and guarantee a new winner of the GF?

What I would give to go back in time to October 2021 and tell myself in 3 years time we’d be CC winners, averaging over 8k crowds and about to face off against Wigan for a spot at Old Trafford.

On the game, I don’t think even the optimist in me thinks we have a chance of winning. Wigan have a ridiculously good team which has the tools to expose every tiny weakness we have. I imagine it’ll be a pretty tight 1st half and Wigan will score points in short bursts that will slowly deflate our bubble. Heck of a journey though and no matter what happens it’s been another season of progression on and off the pitch which is only going to get better next year with the academy coming.

The last 10 meetings in a competitive setting doesn't bode well, Leigh having won 1 of them back in 2017. That said, the occasion, the hunger, MIGHT just be enough for the Leopards to pull off something special.

I'm going to go Leigh by golden point and me to have no nails left at the end of it.

Up the Leopards!

I am hoping Leigh just give it a go. No point playing Wigan down the middle and playing conservative as the previous 3 games have resulted in nothing more than a damp squib.

Give it your all and throw caution to the wind.

Get Moylan at 6 and throw it about and get Ipape playing second receiver too when Dwyer is on.

It will be a great atmosphere with 6000 crazy Lobbygobblers shouting their heads off, but Wigan are just too good (unless someone sees red !!)

Anything can happen in sport !

Lam is generally quite consistent with his selection, sometimes to the point where it is quite conservative. If he follows that method, it will be Hardaker on the wing and Hughes and Holmes in the second row (as I highly doubt O'Donnell will be cleared to play). I don't think that team will be enough to lay a glove on Wigan, given the left edge is almost nullified by losing Charnley's finishing ability and O'Donnell's running lines.

I'd be very tempted to start Ipape at 13, and bench Asiata, while swapping Moylan and O'Brien's positions to get better service to the right edge.

Either way, we've gone further than I expected and the last 2 wins have felt like a final win in the nature of celebrations afterwards so this just feels like a day trip out to the bus station.

Hard to see past Wigan, but I think everyone is rooting for Leigh here.

Only if Rovers lose on Friday.

Otherwise Wigan all the way!

Difficult to predict. Won't be able to watch the game as I'll be in the EU for a few more days.  I just hope that the winner will be the team that scores the most points, that discipline doesn't cost points, and that this thread doesn't descend into a fruitless discussion around a frame-by-frame argument over a refereeing decision.

Suspect this will be a game too far for Leigh. They'll give it a decent go but think Wigan will win and will rarely look in danger.

Wigan 24-10 Leigh.

I have Leigh family, Leigh friends and live in Atherton now. I can't lie, I'm absolutely terrified of the thought that we might lose😂 It feels like a free hit for Leigh, with them having little to lose and I think they'll give it a real crack. Ticket sales have gone through 17,000 now, so it should be a good atmosphere.

Taking the emotion out of the game, the head says that Leigh are battle hardened but have lost a couple of important players and thinking back to days of Wigan needing to win games to make the play offs and then getting through a round or two, we'd usually hit a brick wall at some point and run out of energy. I think that might come mid way through the second half for Leigh and Wigan will win by about 8-10 points.

I reckon that Wigan's big game experience and their superior squad will be too much for Leigh. Suspect that it'll be a close first half hour while Wigan work out Leigh's weaknesses and then the floodgates will open. Wigan by 30 and a Beaumont melt down.

Not sure about the Derek meltdown but everything else could happen ! 😂😂

I’m afraid we have 2 hopes and one of them is Bob, a game to far for a busted team against the best team in the comp at home. I just hope it’s respectable.

Hopefully Niu and Armstrong give us some real pace next year and Condon and Liu give us some added punch, can’t complain how far we have come in 3 years.

Of the four teams left in it Leigh would be the one I'd like to see go on and win the thing.

But in reality I think we'll be cheering on a team beginning with "W" next week. Which one remains to be seen.

The nearer the game gets, the more I think if Kai O’Donnell plays then Leigh have got a chance.

Not quite processed even the remote possibility of Leigh winning, mind.

As a neutral I'm really looking forward to this game . Wigan are a great side so let's see how they cope with the pressure and make no mistake they are expected to win and Leigh will be up for it . Bring it on

Soon we will be dancing the fandango

Not me as I commented on here after the Penrith v Wigan WCC match earlier this year that Wigan would be in it again in 2025 but Penrith would not!
