It’s probably easier to develop juniors clubs in Sheffield than other expansion areas as they don’t have too far to travel for games. How many clubs are there in Sheffield and South Yorkshire? to be honest I am not sure any more I've got myself more involved day to day with Sheffield Tigers RU as my kids play there and I'm coaching there. We did have an RL side playing out of it that my son played for the last couple of years so played a few. It depends how far you want to go really... Sherwood Bassetlaw Dodworth Forgers Hillsbrough off the top of my head but there are then some out more towards Doncaster which may fall more under their catchment etc..

So probably around 5 in Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham. Plenty of space for more though. I alway thought clubs like Castleford and Wakefield should do some development work down in South Yorkshire, especially if they both run an academy as the Wakefield district is quite saturated with junior clubs and there’s lots of clubs scouting for their academies like Leeds. A new player pool would help when signing academy players

There's nothing suspicious going on at all. Its obviously very serious for the action that has been taken and its pretty easy to put one and one together and come up with the answer that it is down to compliance surrounding concussion protocols or related. You also have to wonder if this could lead to a criminal investigation depending on the severity of it.

All of the focus seems to be on Sheffield. Doncaster are already involved in coaching and development in 2 of those clubs. Sick to death of listening to people putting all faith in Sheffield when South Yorkshire's other city club are already invested in the wider community. It gets annoying. Of that list Dodworth and Bassetlaw btw. Edited October 3 by Rene_Artois

The outcome of this particular case could set a future precedence no matter what the ultimate result is. My gut feeling is that something potentially very serious has gone on here. I repeat potentially. Time is required with a view to reaching the correct result.

Wow, interesting take on a topic about Sheffield where people are asking about Sheffield's work I don't think Doncaster and Sheffield are in competition, complete opposite in fact it is best for them to work together in this.. I see people asking about Sheffield as it's a genuine interest in a team that won a challenge cup in 98, have developed into a top end champ team and do get some publicity. I never see people on the same thread knocking anything Doncaster are doing or denigrating them. If anything the things you have mentioned are often brought up to show south Yorkshire as a whole is a developing area... Dodworth have been mentioned for some time as a "satellite" club (or whatever that group of clubs is called) by Sheffield.. and they go and coach there and bring the club to eagles for session AFAIK.. 1 amateur/junior club can interact with more than 1 "pro" club.. Head Coach / owner suspended, assistant coach of 10 years leaves, other back room staff leave. Maybe this is another of the clubs the RFL have worries over, along with with Whitehaven, Halifax, London etc. Edited October 4 by sheddingswasus

Loads of things can be read 2 different ways. The head coach issue is a concern for sure, he may yet be found to have some nothing wrong, but I agree it's not good. It could be Keith left as Mark Aston has said no matter what he will stand down as coach etc. we don't know as yet There are positives at Sheffield the key is that it isn't just Aston or bust for the club. I cannot recall the details but I believe the guy involved at Sheffield FC has some influence in the club which may show more stability than we perceive. There are a lot of Ifs and Buts that we just need to see ride out IMHO

Whilst Mark Aston owns some shares, his holding is less than 0.7% of the issued share capital. Or, put another way, the club's share capital is 99.3% owned by other people. "Other backroom staff" are two brothers who take photos and videos at matches. They did a decent job but it's hardly going to affect the stability of the club. Some folk don't have enough excitement in their lives and need to make stuff up. 3 "We'll sell you a seat .... but you'll only need the edge of it!" I only commented based on reading all the stuff I had read and what it looks to an outsider.

However something seems to have affected the stability of the club the way the teams performance has gone into free fall.

There's also the possibility that the presiding judge(s) may want to go away and consider all the evidence that's been presented before giving a verdict.
