Gooleboy
Sad news this morning that Brian Lockwood has passed away. What a fine, tough forward Brian was. Also one of those who made the grade in Australia. He was also a popular publican at various pubs in the Wakefield area. RIP. 4

Ullman
Sad news, he was an outstanding player. Not only tough but a terrific ball player. Nobody of a certain age in this part of the world will ever forget that pass. 3 "I'm from a fishing family. Trawlermen are like pirates with biscuits." - Lucy Beaumont. I think he was the first player to win at Wembley with three different clubs. Castleford, HKR, and Widnes.

Cumbrian Fanatic
That's really sad, had the pleasure of meeting him once at a rugby do a couple of years ago and he took the time to have a really interesting conversation with me. When I asked for a photo, he put his arm around me a gripped my shoulder, I thought that he was going to tear it off. 1 100% League 0% Union Just because I don't know doesn't mean I don't understand
Wiltshire Warrior Dragon
Very sad news. I hadn't realised that he was Roger Millward's cousin - what a family!

Anita Bath
Bradford, 2nd test v Kangaroos, Huge crowd, cars parked on motorway access road. And Peter Fox picked his Dads Army team against the all conquering opponents. Lockwood was magnificent that day and GB won handsomely. My favourite GB memory.

RayCee
A useful summary here: https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/players/brian-lockwood/summary.html R.I.P. 1 My blog: https://rugbyl.blogspot.co.nz/ It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course. Just take RLP's stats for the British game with a pinch of salt. They're far from complete or, indeed, error free. The Aussie element is fine. Nobody of a certain age in this part of the world will ever forget that pass. Lockwood flick pass to Neil Pringle in Balmain's win in the 1976 Amco Cup final. Was there for that match as I was to see him play in the 1974 GF at the SCC when Canterbury were beaten by the Roosters. My favourite match involving Brian was in 1980 when I came from Aus to take my mum for her only visit to Wembley to see her team Hull KR triumph against Hull FC. Thanks for the wonderful memories Brian. RIP.
